A significant and fast reduction in greenhouse gas emissions is required in future. The transition from fossil fuels to low carbon intensity require huge investments in new processes and technologies, such as green hydrogen, green steel, low carbon cement, CCS and electrification of the oil, gas and mining industries. The Energy Construction department of Munich Re F&C (Facultative & Corporate) provides bespoke insurance solutions for large and complex projects for a variety of industries. To realize the worldwide business potential and to support our corporate clients and business partners during the energy transition as well as for their traditional business we are looking for a dedicated engineering underwriter for our team.YOUR JOBAcquire, assess, quote and underwrite construction projects for oil & gas, mining, battery, semi-conductor and other energy intense industries in accordance with our strategyEnhance or develop insurance concepts and solutions for energy transition projects and develop tailor made insurance solutions for new technologiesAssure compliance with group wide guidelines and provide support to the global Munich Re organizationActively cultivate relationships with brokers and insureds Participate or lead site surveys and prepare reports Prepare seminars/workshops for internal and external training and actively participate in eventsEngage with new technologies or unfamiliar lines of industriesYOUR PROFILEDegree in engineering or a comparable science-related discipline, or a recognized professional qualification in insurance with a strong affinity to technical mattersExperience as an engineer in energy intense industries on the owner’s or contractor’s side or knowledge of processes for hard-to-abate-industries, technologies and trendsAlternatively, comprehensive understanding of technical insurances, ideally EAR industries insurances, including a good knowledge of underwriting tools, processes, and administrative systemsStrong negotiation skillsStrong written and verbal skills, affinity to assess contracts or insurance policies High degree of responsibility, motivation, decisiveness and self-employmentTeam player who is also able to work independentlyGood analytical skills and a holistic approachFluent English; additional German and/or Spanish knowledge is an advantageWillingness to travelApplication InstructionsIn order to consider your application, we require your application to be submitted via our online applicant portal.
