Scope: HVDC - Electrical Deliverables + System Engineering
Location: Berlin (Hybrid)
Position Overview: We are looking for an experienced Project Director to oversee the electrical systems + system engineering in an upcoming major 2GW HVDC Project. This role involves managing the planning, design, implementation, and commissioning of all electrical components, ensuring the project is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will oversee multiple sub-projects, lead cross-functional teams, and liaise with key stakeholders to ensure the seamless integration of electrical systems into the overall project.
Key Responsibilities:
* Project Leadership: Lead the electrical systems aspect of the Ostwind 4 project, from initial planning and design through to commissioning. Ensure all electrical components are integrated effectively into the overall project scope, timelines, and budgets.
* Technical & Commercial Oversight: Provide technical leadership across all electrical systems, including HVDC, substations, and grid integration. Ensure all technical and commercial aspects are aligned with project goals, contractual obligations, and regulatory requirements.
* Team Leadership & Development: Establish and lead the project teams responsible for electrical systems, ensuring collaboration across disciplines. Foster a high-performance culture and mentor team members to enhance their skills and expertise.
* Stakeholder Management: Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including contractors, subcontractors, regulatory bodies, and project partners. Coordinate design requirements, technical specifications, and schedules to align all parties with project objectives.
* Risk & Performance Management: Oversee risk management, including identifying and mitigating potential risks related to electrical systems. Monitor performance against project milestones and KPIs, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
* System Integration: Ensure successful integration of electrical systems into the overall infrastructure, including the onshore grid, working closely with other project disciplines and stakeholders to manage system interfaces and dependencies.
* HSE & Quality Assurance: Maintain a strong focus on health, safety, and environmental (HSE) compliance. Ensure the electrical systems adhere to the highest safety standards and quality requirements throughout the lifecycle of the project.
* Budget & Cost Control: Monitor the budget for electrical systems, ensuring costs are managed effectively and deviations are addressed promptly. Report regularly on financial performance to senior leadership.
* Innovation & Problem Solving: Drive innovative solutions for electrical system challenges, exploring new technologies and methods to optimize project performance and ensure the highest standards of system efficiency and sustainability.
Qualifications:
* Proven experience in project management and leadership roles, particularly in the energy sector, with a focus on electrical systems (HVDC, substations, or similar).
* Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles and the integration of complex electrical systems within large infrastructure projects.
* Excellent project management skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and teams simultaneously.
* Strong commercial acumen and experience with contracts, budgets, and cost control.
* Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Expertise in risk management, quality assurance, and HSE compliance.
* Fluent in English; proficiency in German is a plus but not a requirement.
