The position is part of the externally funded UK-German collaborative project \"Integrative Microbiomes - Functional stability of a customised nitrogen-fixing microbiome under changing environments” and is to be filled on a fixed-term basis in accordance with § 2 WissZeitVG and § 72 HessHG with the opportunity for own academic qualification at the Chair of Phytopathology (https://www.uni-giessen.de/en/faculties/f09/institutes/phyto/phyto_en?set_language=en), Department of Phytopathology at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Ecotrophology and Environmental Management. The salary is in accordance with the collective labour agreement of the State of Hessen (E 13 TV-H, 65%).
As long as the maximum permissible duration of a fixed-term contract is not exceeded, you will be employed for a period of 3 years.
Your tasks at a glance
Responsibility for the implementation of a PhD project within the framework of the DFG-BBSRC funded cooperation project Integrative Microbiomes
Exploring the function of a microbial symbiont community in plants under drought stress as critical climate stress
Active participation in interdisciplinary training activities
The provision of academic services (including the processing of a research project financed by third party funds on a temporary basis) also serves the purpose of academic qualification.
Your qualifications and competences
Completed Master‘s or equivalent university degree in Agricultural Plant Sciences, Plant Biology or Bio-informatics
Relevant knowledge of plant-microbe interactions, molecular biology and/or sequencing bioinformatics
High interest in applied, interdisciplinary research
High motivation to broaden intellectual and professional horizons through active participation in a culturally and professionally diverse research team
Excellent English-language writing and communication skills
Ability to achieve goals independently when needed
Excellent ability to work in a team
