Faculty of Medicine/Uniklinik RWTH Aachen
This is a tenure-track junior professorship leading to a tenured W2 position. For further information about the tenure track process, please visit www.rwth-aachen.de/tenuretrack.
We are looking for a person to represent this subject in research and teaching as soon as possible.
The professorship will be based at the Institute of Experimental Molecular Imaging and will expand the existing expertise by engineering and computer science aspects. The aim is to develop imaging methods that allow morphological, functional and molecular analyses in vivo (preclinical and clinical studies), in three-dimensional in vitro models and in bioreactors, which lie between the microscopic and macroscopic order of magnitude in terms of their resolution. In addition to the ultrasound localisation microscopy co-developed at the Institute, all methods available at the Chair of Experimental Molecular Imaging (photoacoustics, optical imaging, μCT, MRI, SPECT-CT, PET-MRI, MPI) can be used for this purpose. The professorship will bridge the gap between engineering/computer science and biomedical research. Interdisciplinary scientific cooperation with other departments and clinics of the Medical School, with the research areas of the RWTH Aachen University including SFB TRR 219, SFB 1382, KFO 344, KFO 5011, IRTG 2150, GRK 2375, GRK 2415, GRK 2610, PAK 961, CIOABCD, JARA, IZKF AACHEN, with the Institute of Biomedical Technologies (IBMT) and with other technical disciplines are encouraged. In addition, an active commitment in the degree programs of the Medical Faculty is also expected.
Candidates should have a university degree and a particular ability to undertake academic work, which is demonstrated by an outstanding doctorate, high ranked publications and the acquisition of third party funding. Teaching ability and dedication are essential and the application should include proof of this. Fluent German is not required to start the position but the successful candidate will be expected to hold classes in German within the first 5 years.
