The Business Unit Solar & Batteries (BU SoBa) operates within Vattenfall’s Business Area Wind, which oversees Vattenfall’s renewable activities in Wind, Solar PV, and Battery Storage. BA Wind develops, constructs, and manages renewable generation across Sweden, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, and the UK.
BU Solar & Batteries is responsible for all large-scale solar and battery development and has its purpose to enable fossil freedom through profitable solar and battery assets. To achieve this, BU SoBa is active across the entire value chain, from early-stage development through to operations. Within BU SoBa, the Market Regulatory Expert plays a vital role in the Portfolio & Transactions department, maximizing revenues from stand-alone battery and hybrid park operations and supporting project development with deep market and regulatory insights.
Job Description
As a Market Regulatory Expert, you will be instrumental in navigating the regulatory landscape for solar and battery technologies. You will focus on analyzing regulatory regimes and translating them into actionable standards and processes for BU SoBa projects. Your insights will enable BU SoBa to stay ahead of regulatory changes and seize opportunities within evolving energy market frameworks.
Your tasks and responsibilities
* Conduct in-depth analysis of emerging and evolving regulations, focusing on energy market design, battery integration, and solar PV policies. Identify opportunities to shape the legislative landscape to align with BU SoBa’s objectives.
* Analyze the implications of regulatory changes on solar and battery projects, translating these insights into strategic adjustments and operational standards to ensure compliance and alignment across all BU SoBa initiatives.
* Develop and implement standardized regulatory requirements and processes to streamline project development and operational strategies.
* Provide specialized regulatory-based support to project teams as they navigate specific market and policy challenges, enabling informed technical and commercial decisions that align with both strategic goals and regulatory frameworks.
Qualifications
Your Profile
* Experience: experience in regulatory affairs, energy policy, or related fields, ideally with a focus on German energy markets and renewables. Previous engagement with regulatory bodies or lobbying activities is a plus.
* Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law, Economics, Energy Policy, Environmental Studies, or a related discipline.
* Skills:
o In-depth knowledge of energy market design and regulatory frameworks, particularly for renewables, batteries, and hybrid energy solutions.
o Ability to assess the impact of regulatory changes and provide strategic recommendations for product and market strategies.
o Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, especially in translating complex regulations into actionable business insights.
o Exceptional communication skills, with proficiency in conveying technical and regulatory information to various stakeholders.
o Fluency in German and English (written and verbal); additional language skills are a plus.
