Amazon Web Services (AWS) is introducing the European Sovereign Cloud (ESC), an initiative that's creating growth opportunities in our data center operations. To support this expansion, we're looking for a Senior Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) Manager to join our team in Berlin, Germany. In this role, you'll lead data center operations in our growing German facilities. AWS data centers are the backbone of our ESC Region, housing critical IT infrastructure that requires uninterrupted cooling and power to ensure continuous uptime for our customers. As the Senior DCEO Manager, you'll be at the forefront of maintaining this crucial infrastructure. Your responsibilities will extend across the region, where you'll lead a team of Facility Managers and Operations Engineers. You'll oversee best-in-class operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical infrastructure for AWS data centers. Key job responsibilities In this pivotal role you will be responsible for: Safety Leadership: Set and maintain the highest standard for safety and actively promoting a world-class safety culture. People Management: Be a manager of managers. • Lead a diverse team of DC Operations management professionals • Hire, develop, and retain top talent in DC Operations • Foster collaboration with leaders in Finance, Safety, HR, Recruiting and other operational organizations • Oversee vendor relationships and lead contract negotiations Operational Excellence: Manage a mission-critical operations environment with electrical and mechanical equipment, including Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS’s), Switchgear, Circuit Breakers, Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS’s), Diesel Generators, Chillers. • Execute strategic preventative maintenance and corrective break-fix planning on mission-critical infrastructures. Review and approve equipment maintenance and repair processes and procedures as well as the ability to tactfully drive continuous organizational change management. • Preparing for and leading the organization through facility infrastructure incident management plan. This includes event planning, drill coordination, leadership escalation, incident mitigation, and post event resolution. THF manages the design, planning, delivery, and operation of servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment, ensuring continuous customer access to the ESC Cloud. The team tackles complex supply chain challenges with numerous variables. THF comprises a diverse group of professionals, including software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers.
