Hauptaufgaben
Serves as Chief of the Storage Support Division, including management of:
- A Carpenter Shop with fabrication of products such as pallets for storage and shipping
- Repair and service of customer and organic equipment such as fabric, etc.
- Preservation
- AG Cleaning
- Tent Meister missions
- Preparation of shipment of major end items
Incumbent accomplishes daily work through direction of subordinate supervisory personnel, a total of approx. 60 employees in skilled and semiskilled trades and crafts including wood workers, fabric workers, preservation servicers and equipment cleaners, Motor Vehicle Operators and Equipment Specialists (Tent Meisters). is the Chief and technical authority for a variety of functions in SAE/A listed above. Position requires technical proficiency in a variety of professions and the ability to analyze trends for data collection and production reports to higher headquarters. Scheduling of work is frequently complicated by unpredicted surges of high priority work and constant changes of customers and/or priorities. Plans overall flow of work, resource requirements, and production scheduling. Constant coordination is required to coordinate substantial interaction of work groups who must combine a large number of different resources into a specific sequence during a particular inflexible time frame. Establishes work measurement and performance standards and determines requirements. Reviews and approves production schedules and plans for propriety, soundness of judgment and conformance with objectives prior to adoption. Establishes priorities according to workload, changes in procedures and techniques, and disseminates information and instructions pertinent to respective program objectives. Incumbent applies proficient technical knowledge and expertise to solve new production problems that are constantly arising due to services for newly fielded products and constantly fluctuating missions for which higher headquarters has not allocated additional resources.
Develops, formulates, and implements policies, procedures, and standards for assigned support functions. Staff surveillance functions include redistribution program, shop equipment management, utilization, and replacement of equipment. Provides advice to staff managers, contractors, etc. relative to various support functions associated with long and short-term equipment and facility requirements. Receives and evaluates reports submitted by supported commands to determine unacceptable variations in standards in order to determine trends or fluctuations in prescribed procedures. Ensures correctness of incoming reports and makes corrections to reports as required. Uses reports as a source for data and statistics for briefing purposes, charts, budget information, and workload justification.
Reviews and analyzes reports prepared by subordinates, identifies trends, variations, discrepancies, deficiencies, improvements, etc., and determines if goals and objectives are met. Uses managerial authority to direct or redirect the mission execution, long range planning, organizational structure, goals and objectives. Organizes, coordinates, and directs the work activities and personnel of the sections supervised. Assigns and explains work requirements to subordinate level supervisors, sets deadlines and sequence of operations, directs rearrangement of space and development of specialized procedures and equipment. Maintains balanced workloads for subordinate work sections and work groups and shifts work for most effective operations. Reviews and analyzes production, cost and personnel utilization records to evaluate progress of work, and to control or reduce costs; studies continuing problems; and takes or recommends necessary corrective actions. Prepares operating instructions and work schedules; develops quality and quantity standards; spot checks operations; and reviews completed work and inspection reports to assure that production and quality standards are met. Coordinates work operations as needed with the supervisors of other organizations and functions. Makes determination on equipment, systems and requirements for mission accomplishment and whether or not to acquire, retain, or discontinue use. As required, briefs Division Chief on overall objectives, mission accomplishment, work plans, budget and other concerns. Analyzes operations to identify areas needing improvement (i.e., systems, procedures, methods, resources, etc.). Determines and evaluates the results of corrective actions that address deficiencies. Develops plans, policies, programs and procedures to achieve maximum efficiency and economy of operations. Identifies and recommends to Division Chief any modifications to organizational structure.
Personnel Management: Plans work schedules and sequence of operations, sets and adjusts short-term and long-term priorities. Directs and controls work assignments; distributes and balances the workload among subordinate employees in accordance with established workflow or job specialization, ensures an even flow and distribution of work to accommodate completion of high priority requirements and to ensure the achievement of deadlines and schedules. Explains work requirements, demonstrates methods and procedures, and responds to technical and administrative questions presented by subordinates. Reviews, spot-checks, or inspects work and rejects or modifies unacceptable work products. Recommends approval or disapproval of leave. Hears and resolves complaints from employees, referring serious problems to higher authority together with recommendations for solution. Effects minor disciplinary actions (e.g., oral or written reprimands) and proposes action in more serious cases (e.g. long-term suspensions, removals). Counsels employees on performance and assures the employees are properly trained. Ensures an efficient, positive work environment. Supports the principles of ISO requirements and implements these within his/her area of responsibility with prime focus to continuous improvements within the element.

C-7a:
E&T Level I: 2 years of creditable experience as defined in A below PLUS 5 years of experience as defined in B below PLUS 1 year as defined in C below.
Current employees who do not meet E&T Level I and who are not in the same or similar occupation must have 2 additional years of creditable experience as described in A below.
E&T Level II: 1 year of creditable experience as defined in A below PLUS 5 years of experience as defined in B below PLUS 1 year as defined in C below.
E&T Level III: 4 years of experience as defined in B below PLUS 1 year as defined in C below.
E&T Level IV: 3 years of experience as defined in B below PLUS 1 year as defined in C below.
E&T Level V: 2 years of experience as defined in B below PLUS 1 year as defined in C below.
Current employees who have served one year in the same or similar occupation are qualified for the next higher grade.
Experience A: Included clerical work in an office or store, working with computers, bookkeeping, making and recording inventories, telephone marketing, arranging for events or as a cashier, etc.
Experience B: Experience in the same or similar line of work as the job for which considered. The experience must demonstrate that the applicant possesses the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required in the position. The predominant experience must have been gained at a comparable level of difficulty to the position to be filled. The amount of the higher level experience must be in a reasonable relation to the required total number of years.
Experience C: Professional work at a high level of responsibility in a difficult and closely related professional field that is in the same line of work to the position to be filled. The experience must demonstrate thorough knowledge, sound judgment, personal initiative, and the ability to make sound decisions.
• German driver's license class B desired.
• Office automation skills are required.
LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY LEVEL:
English Language Proficiency level C1 AND German Language Proficiency level C1 required.

This is a permanent fulltime position (38.5 hrs./week).
