Join us as a Industrial PhD Student in Converged Wi-Fi / Optical Fiber Communication (m/f/d) Your mission: As a PhD student in Huawei’s Optical Technologies Lab at MRC you will explore technologies to pioneer, advance and optimize next generation in-home communication technologies for efficient MAC-layer focused convergence of optical transport and WiFi. With support from Huawei and your academical supervisor, you will identify yourself the detailed PhD topic and contribute to state of the art and publish results in one or more of the following areas: Explore converged WiFi and optical networks network architectures and advanced but practical medium access algorithms, including resource allocation, framing aspects, multipoint-signal coordination from theory to practical prototypes. Focus will be on MAC layer algorithms for fiber to the room applications. Topics of interest may include multi-access point coordination (such as Co-multi-user MIMO processing, Co-TDMA, Co-OFDMA, Co-SR, Co-BF, Joint transmission) using fibre backhauling, multi-link technologies, optical and wireless integration architectures and protocols, i.e. optical based Wi-Fi fronthauling, cross-layer coordinated scheduling algorithm Convergence of future generations of indoor wireless (WiFi 8, IMMW, etc.) and passive optical point-to-multipoint technologies like (HS-PON, 200G-PON, etc.) or related technologies Publish in leading international conferences and journals Your areas of expertise: Master's degree or an equivalent degree in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering or related fields Knowledge of wireless or optical communication systems (MAC protocols, PHY layer concepts) Self-motivation and a strong desire to understand and solve challenges, excellent problem-solving skills Strong interest in innovative solutions and technologies in future communication systems Good programming skill in at least one of the following programming languages: Matlab, Python, C/C++ Experience in network simulation tools (such as NS3, OPNET, OMNeT) Background in algorithm simulations and optimization theory Excellent academic transcripts from university Must be eligible to work in the European Union to be considered for this position Fluent in English (written and oral) By applying to this position, you agree with our Recruitment Privacy Statement.
