Responsibilities
Make an impact. We are seeking a Project Director based in Dortmund with hybrid and remote working available.
* Manage and coordinate very complex projects with high volume and high risks, typically consisting of multiple different sub-systems, high throughput requirements, new technology, and a high level of Stakeholder Management. Coach and manage interdisciplinary teams. Manage complex contract structures and several high risks with substantial constraints.
* Maintain control of major project milestones at all times, e.g., execution specification signed by customer, FAT, SAT, PAC, FAC. Develop a project schedule with the required level of detail continuously. Actively manage the critical path. Prioritize, sequence, and split activities to compress schedule and minimize project duration.
* Maintain a high level of forecast accuracy. Influence the contract and plan the project to achieve the best possible cash flow, ensuring that the payment ratio (incoming/outgoing payments) exceeds 100% at all times. Anticipate cost implications and make decisions. Establish an effective claim management process. Select suppliers in cooperation with other functions (e.g., purchasing, engineering), proactively manage suppliers to ensure deliveries match agreements and expectations, including the management of open book projects.
* Contribute to a safe work environment and avoid negative impacts on the environment by following internal routines and procedures for Health, Safety, and Environment. Contribute to the company's quality program and participate in continuous improvement work.
Application Requirements
What you need to succeed:
* Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
* PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification is highly desirable.
* Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in engineering project management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role managing large-scale projects.
* Proven experience in managing complex, cross-functional projects with multiple stakeholders.
* Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and software.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
* Fluent in German and English.
