We’re looking for an experienced Vice President to lead tax compliance for Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs) and support the broader leadership of Tax Services in Luxembourg.

What you will be responsible for
As Tax Senior Manager you will:
1. Deliver a comprehensive and quality Tax service to Luxembourg Alternative Investment Fund contracted clients.
2. Represent the Bank externally in front of clients, regulators, tax authorities, suppliers and other parties and play an active role in promoting the Bank and the Corporation in respect of Tax Services for clients of State Street Luxembourg.
3. Collaborate with other line and functional areas of the Bank to achieve Tax Service objectives of the Bank and of the Corporation for clients.
4. Ensure Tax service offering evolves in line with client demand and market requirements.
5. Manage the Luxembourg tax team responsible for the operational delivery of Tax services to clients in line with legal agreements, governing documentation and SLAs.
6. Lead the continuous enhancement of State Street’s overall Tax service offering for Luxembourg fund clients to ensure consistent and market leading service offering for clients across all product types and contractual arrangements.
7. Review, develop and enhance the existing tax service operating model for delivery of Tax services in line with strategic direction of Global Delivery working closely with various State Street business functions in EMEA and the US.
8. Ensure effective day to day BAU service delivery across all Luxembourg serviced clients and timely escalation and remediation of any issues as they arise and in line with Bank policies.
9. Lead and manage a consistent high quality delivery of Tax services to clients working closely with GS Client Executive and Client Service teams. Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, other State Street offices and clients.
10. Support senior management from the Segment and Client Organisation on business development opportunities including role as lead tax support for RFPs and client pitches.
11. Manage and govern Tax functions for Luxembourg fund clients that have been outsourced or delegated to other State Street areas or external providers.
12. Ensure all internal policies are complied with by the local tax teams in Luxembourg and demonstrate the ‘Risk Excellence’ culture in your behavior. Establish and nurture a culture of ‘Risk Excellence’ within the team, encourage an environment of openness that welcomes effective challenge and supports open discussion.
13. Provide reporting for senior management and effectively escalate any risks to senior management.
14. Develop and maintain strong relationships with local State Street offices, tax advisors, industry associations and clients.
15. Lead the preparation and filing tax returns for various Luxembourg investment vehicles with the Luxembourg tax authorities, including corporate income tax, municipal business tax, net wealth tax, subscription tax, withholding tax on dividends and director’s fees, value added tax, and tax filings for Luxembourg partnerships.
16. Lead the preparation and publication of all investor tax reporting including the German, Belgian, Italian, Swiss, Austrian and UK reporting.
17. Ensure timely and accurate tax compliance in line with Luxembourg regulations.
18. Liaise with tax authorities, respond to audits, and handle regulatory queries from the authorities and the clients.
19. Monitor tax developments and assess their impact on alternative investment structures.
20. Provide technical tax expertise to internal stakeholders and clients.
21. Drive investor, corporate and fund tax services strategic direction in Luxembourg, weighing tax technical and operational risks with commercial opportunities and client deliverables.
22. Work closely with partners in Product, Operations, Technology and Corporate functions to execute business unit strategy.
23. Engage and develop relationships with key clients and third parties including consultants and tax advisors.
24. Act as a tax leader for RFPs and represent State Street in client pitches together with senior business owners.
25. Through active engagement with industry associations and private/public forums on tax matters, drive initiatives aimed at simplifying tax operational processes.

Education & Preferred Qualifications
* 10+ years of experience in a similar tax compliance role with focus on alternative investments, preferably in a global service provider, global asset manager, Big 4 firm, or law firm. A previous experience in a tax advisory role is considered as a plus;
* Excellent knowledge of funds tax regimes of Luxembourg.
* Demonstrable leadership skills and the ability to positively influence colleagues in other functional areas, including non-tax professionals.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to explain complex tax.
* University degree in finance, taxation, accounting, or law; certification in finance (i.e. CFA, CAIA, etc…) and international taxation (i.e. LLM, ADIT) are recommended;
* Professional proficiency in English is required; French/German are a plus.
