Your role The successful candidate will join a strong and motivated research team led by Prof. Symeon Chatzinotas to work as a Research Associate, performing the following tasks: Research the evaluation of advanced photonics technologies for satellite payloads in frequencies at RF, millimeter wave, and THz Develop and optimize mode locked lasers, for integrated circuits and wireless communication Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to design and test photonic based microwave signal generators Publish high quality research papers in peer reviewed journals and present findings at international conferences Your profile Qualification: The candidate should possess a Master or Ph.D. in Engineering degree or equivalent in Engineering, Computer Science, or Applied Mathematics. Expertise in Photonic Integrated Circuits, RF signal generation, and THz communication technologies Experience with laser physics, mode locked lasers, and frequency comb generation Strong programming and simulation skills in tools like MATLAB, and additional Electromagnetic Simulator and EDA tools Proven track record of publications in high impact journals Laboratory Instrumentation Test bed design and implementation on Software Defined Radio platforms Preferred Experience: Familiarity with photonic semiconductors technology and foundry based PIC platforms, SiP, Chiplets, and Heterogeneous integration (e.g., FinFET/PICs) Hands on experience in the development of millimeter wave wireless systems Previous experience working on optical heterodyning and optical modulators is a plus Knowledge of FPGA programming, ASIC design, and high speed serial link interfaces Language Skills: Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English are required.
