Hauptaufgaben This position is located in TLSC-E/A and is reserved for maintenance and inspection of special military equipment. Incumbent is the authority for inspecting and (re-)certifying compliance of vehicle/equipment standards with host nation, European laws and guidelines, US Military and USAREUR regulations and standards. Function requires the provision of and entails the application of highly specialized technical and procedural knowledge deriving from a multitude of host-nation and European laws, MIL regulations and Technical Manuals. Verifies application of and conformity with standards defined for a variety of maintenance processes and vehicle/equipment quality and standards. Defines methods and processes to ensure applicable standards are met. Serves as the organizational Subject Matter expert in all matters of ADR/GGVSE pertaining to: - legal references (host-nation, European and MIL), - applicability, - codification of standards, - definition of (internal) processes required for compliance. Incumbent performs independent action and decision making pertaining to the verification of equipment used to transport hazardous material, i.e. confirm compliance of vehicle/equipment with applicable standards, execute personalized certification authority. Exercises specialized knowledge to verify and validate status of equipment; determine condition code and independently decide/makes conclusions on COA, processes and resources required to attain ADR standards. As the Subject Matter Expert on ADR, defines processes to ensure internal procedures are in line with regulatory requirements and legal references including changes/revisions. Performs inspections of vehicles and equipment designated for the transportation of dangerous goods IAW timeline defined by legal references, to include: Performs initial, in processing and final inspections of a great variety of multi fuel self-propelled combat equipment and heavy wheeled vehicles, subject to minor or major repairs, modification, rebuild, overhaul and repair of major components and combat equipment, including light and heavy tanks, self-propelled howitzers, tank-recovery vehicles, personnel carriers, and special purpose vehicles. Conducts driving tests for assigned personnel as required and serves as inspector of turrets and fire control equipment before, during and after repair and maintenance. Conducts practical training by instructing section's personnel on repair, driving and/or operating of self-propelled combat equipment and heavy wheeled vehicles. Trains new employees for eventual licensing on all military vehicles through instruction on performance of preventive maintenance, safety checks, and complete road tests on approved and officially designated roads within area. Ensures that prospective driver is instructed about correct rules and traffic regulations governing operation of vehicles. Upon completion of driver training fills in applicable section of Equipment Operators Qualification Section and forwards to shop supervisor for further action. Provides technical assistance to all supported units as required/requested on all types of combat vehicles. Assistance is provided onsite or at inspector's work-site as may be appropriate. Documents all assistance provided and reports to the Chief on training weaknesses observed. Performs other duties as assigned.
