JOB DESCRIPTION
The job of research logistician in the field of Infrastructure and Equipment Management (atomic force microscopy (AFM) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR)), within the Molecular Systems (MolSys) Research Unit.
ACTIVITIES
In recent years, a number of instruments have been acquired within the MolSys research unit. They come from significant investment funds obtained through internal calls within ULiège, from the National Fund for Scientific Research (FNRS), and European funds (such as ERDF, ERC Advanced Grant). The MolSys instruments include an NMR 400 MHz, an NMR 700 MHz, a cryoprobe to complete the NMR 700 MHz for the injection of small volumes, 7 AFM (MFP3D, MFP INFINITY, PicoPlus, PicoLE, NanoObserver), and Optical Tweezers (OT), an AFM-MS pair with the soft-landing ion technique (Synapt G2S-Cryo AFM). Other unique mass spectrometry instruments (SYNAPT G2Si, H/D HRMS, the upgrade FT-ICRMS 12T, TIMS ToFFlex HRMS, TIMS ToF-Pro2 HRMS) and unique instruments in the sciences of separation (GCxGC chromatography) and a microfluidity platform called Corning Advanced Flow, completing the MolSys platforms.
The selected candidate will provide technological, methodological, and scientific support to the MolSys research teams and will use these technologies in fundamental research projects, both applied and translational. They will provide particular support to the NMR and AFM units, seamlessly integrated with all the MolSys platforms.
Specific tasks will include:
* Planning and maintaining the NMR and AFM instruments in the MolSys research unit
* Training users (doctoral students and post-docs in MolSys)
* Maintaining the level of the MolSys instruments from a technical point of view
* Technological monitoring in line with the research activities of MolSys
* Preparing original and innovative experiments to support the MolSys collaborative research projects
* Acting as a focal point with the administration of property resources (ARI)
* Managing and centralising requests from MolSys.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED / PROFILE
* Hold a Doctor of Sciences degree (or equivalent)
* The ability to use AFM and NMR techniques will be considered a priority in the selection process
* Fluency (oral and written) in English and French
* IT skills
* Organisational skills
* Ability to engage in dialogue
* Ability to work in a team
* International experience is an advantage

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
The appointment will be made for a two-year renewable term and may lead to a permanent appointment after an evaluation, or, in certain exceptional circumstances, immediately on a permanent basis.
