Summary
Location: Munich München or Nuremberg Nürnberg, Germany #LI-Hybrid
The Medical Unit Director will shape and drive the near and long-term medical strategy for the respective Medical Unit in Germany. This role encompasses creating a cross-functional integrated medical strategy aligned with global and country ambitions, supporting priority Therapeutic Areas (TAs) from early assets development to patient insights integration, patient journeys, TPOs, and data gap identification.
This role reports directly into the Chief Medical Officer, Germany and will work hand in hand with the Medical Affairs team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Shape and advise on the medical strategy in Germany to ensure alignment with global and country goals, fostering cross-functional collaboration and supporting priority therapeutic areas.
* Create a cross-functional integrated medical strategy aligned with global and country ambitions, supporting priority Therapeutic Areas (TA).
* Advise on global Medical Strategy.
* Build and facilitate close cross-functional collaboration with internal stakeholders (Commercial, Business Excellence & Execution (BE&E), etc.).
* Manage and optimize medical resources and allocation within Medical Units, advocating for early resourcing when appropriate.
* Lead local and advise on global Integrated Evidence strategy to ensure AMNOG and Clinical Adoption Readiness.
* Lead local medical content and engagement strategy, guiding content creation and medical education.
* Ensure long term and sustainable engagement with key national medical experts/accounts/societies within TA.
* Develop and enable strong medical partnerships with Global, International, and Regional stakeholders, and lead the development of Medical Unit associates.
Essential Requirements:
* MD or PhD/PharmD in Health Sciences or Life Sciences.
* Profound experience in the Pharmaceutical industry.
* Business fluent in German and in English.
* Direct leadership experience.
* Strong business acumen with P&L management and marketing excellence tactics.
* Deep understanding of the local healthcare ecosystem or similar healthcare systems.
* Proven ability to build long-term partnerships with external stakeholders.
* Deep understanding of drug development and clinical studies.
* Proven experience in pre-launch/launch strategies and tailoring medical strategy for product lifecycle management.
* 30% travel, mainly within Germany.
Desirable Requirements:
* Cross-functional experience (e.g., Commercial, Value & Access, BE&E).
* Experience at an international level.
