Job Overview
TE Connectivity's Operations Managers are responsible for the day-to-day operations and short/long-term planning for the groups they manage. They manage manufacturing, production control, engineering, inventory control, EH&S, shipping/receiving, etc. focusing on the development of technologies and continuous improvement and translating customer requirements into state-of-the-art manufacturing strategies and processes.
Tasks Summary & Responsibilities:
1. Manages the team by objectives based on clear KPIs setting and drives Lean mindset down to the complete value stream to bring plant to the next level.
2. Provides strong leadership to Department Managers to ensure benchmark performance.
3. Directs through supervision in all plant levels, establishes overall objectives so that schedules can be met and harmonized through proper coordination of various functions under his/her competence.
4. Selects, trains and develops talents for key positions. Ensures that supervisors know their scope of responsibilities and delegates authority for adequate tasks.
5. Establish standards of performance for employees supervised in line with company practices and professional standards. Ensure that plant safety rules are followed.
6. Maintains and develops quality policies & improvements to ensure customer satisfaction and continues reduction of customer complaints and cost of poor quality.
7. Ensures that operation budgets are established (by departments), adjusted if necessary and submitted for approval. Maintains the budget frame in all production departments.
8. Is responsible to ensure that production is properly scheduled, resources allocated, and that personnel, equipment and material are adequate to meet budget & delivery schedule.
9. Directs the proper utilization and maintenance of machinery and tooling including the scheduling of preventive maintenance & repairs in accordance with production commitments. Recommends the adjustments in new equipment, tools and machinery.
What your background should look like:
10. B.S. or Master’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, or related field
11. Min. 5+ years’ experience in leading positions in Automotive industries with > 500 employees
12. Strong strategical & tactical thinking and analytical & problem-solving attitude
13. Excellent team builder, with great leadership, interpersonal & communication skills
14. Ability to form successful working relationships through all levels incl. workers council
15. Demonstrated ability to motivate all levels of the organization and to drive change management processes
16. Comfortable to work in a fast-paced, international matrix organization
17. Fast learner, able to quickly familiarize her/himself with existing methods and practices and new concepts/ideas
18. Proven accomplishments utilizing OpEx and Lean & Continuous Improvement tools/methodologies (e.g. Six Sigma, VSM, …)
19. Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken
