Your role
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Data Strategy & Products to join our leadership team at Sunday Natural. This critical role reports directly to the CTO and works closely with the C-suite and other senior leaders to shape and drive the data strategy within the company. You will be at the forefront of transforming our data operations, leading the transition from a data warehousing function to a more impactful, product-driven approach. As the leader of our growing data team, you will oversee the creation and development of innovative, high-impact data products that enhance our direct-to-consumer (D2C) e-commerce structure.
Key Responsibilities:
* Define and execute the company-wide data strategy for a data-driven D2C e-commerce model.
* Build impactful data products: Self-Service BI, real-time logistics tracking, forecasting models, recommendation engines.
* Lead and grow a data team of currently 10 people: 3 Data Engineers, 2 Analytical Engineers, 3 Analysts, 2 MarTech Engineers.
* Serve as a hands-on leader combining strategic oversight with technical mentoring and architecture.
* Oversee and scale our data stack (GCP, BigQuery, Prefect, dbt, Tableau) and related services (like GA4, Bloomreach CRM, Salesforce etc.).
* Collaborate closely with the CTO, C-suite, and other business leaders.
Your profile
* Experience: 10+ years in data roles, 5+ years in technical leadership roles; strong track record in scaling teams, ideally in D2C e-commerce or tech-driven environments.
* Leadership: Hands-on, player-coach style with a mix of technical depth and strategic vision.
* Tech Stack: Proficient in GCP, BigQuery, Prefect, dbt, Tableau, machine learning and data science; strong grasp of cloud architectures and scalable data systems.
* Data Products: Built and launched BI tools, forecasting models, recommendation engines, and real-time monitoring systems.
* Communication: Fluent in English (German is a plus); effective with both technical and business stakeholders.
* Problem-Solving: Skilled at using data to solve complex business challenges with measurable impact.
