The Director of Finance manages the finances and budgeting and advises on business and resource planning. This position supervises the Accountant & Office Assistant and supports the General Manager (GM).
Key Duties:
1. Analyze and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly and annual financial statements.
2. Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and the board of directors; assess any changes necessary.
3. Oversee and lead annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the GM; administer and review all financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes; and keep leadership team abreast of the organization’s financial status.
4. Manage organizational cash flow and forecasting.
5. Implement a robust contracts management and financial management/reporting system; ensure that the contract billing and collection schedule is adhered to and that financial data and cash flow are steady and support operational requirements.
6. Oversee inventory management and pricing policies.
7. Update and implement all necessary business policies and accounting practices; improve the finance department’s overall policy and procedure manual.
8. Effectively communicate and present the critical financial matters to the board of directors.
9. Assist supervisors with HR issues; process payroll monthly, including annual leave tracking and employment tax compliance.
10. Use MS Office to prepare spreadsheets, email correspondence, etc.
11. Use QuickBooks to prepare monthly financial statements, billing, collecting accounts receivable, creating financial reports.
12. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration (or four years accounting work experience)
2. At least two years of accounting or bookkeeping experience including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and/or financial reports
3. Knowledge and experience using US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
4. Proficiency with MS Office & QuickBooks
