About the FSTM

Your role
We are seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate with a strong interest or background in AI as well as in one or more of the following areas: Generative AI, Natural Language Processing, Deep learning, Large Language Models, Human-Computer Interaction, Virtual reality.
The selected candidate will work on the design and implementation of a human-computer interface to support education using an AI-based approach. The added value should be demonstrated on the basis of a concrete case study. The candidate contributes to AI4Education Focus Area of the University (see ai4edu.uni.lu).
The selected candidate will be employed at Doctoral level (PhD) at the Department of Computer Science of the University of Luxembourg (UL). She/he will be supervised by Prof. Dr. Christoph Schommer and is expected to conduct research on 'AI for Education'. A support in teaching, for example in the courses "AI for Education", "Applications for AI", and/or "Natural Language Processing" is expected. The selected candidate supports the AICafé, a citizen science project to elucidate residents of the country/Greater Region as well as to promote entrepreneurial thinking, with respect to organization.
The candidate's tasks include the following:
* Conduct research in the field of AI for Education
* Collaborate with research partners of the AI4Education focus area
* Communicate research results in international conferences and journals
* Write a doctoral dissertation in Computer Science
* Assist in teaching activities and help in co-supervising Master and/or Bachelor students
