The Position The mission of the global Department of Medicinal Chemistry is to deliver high-quality, first-in-class drug candidates within competitive timelines for humans and animals. In your new role, you will steer research teams as a project leader in an international environment. Tasks & responsibilities - As a project leader in Medicinal Chemistry for Animal Health Therapeutics and/or Antiparasitics, you will co-lead several interdisciplinary, highly collaborative global research teams working to advance veterinary drug discovery projects towards development candidates. - Your daily tasks will include the analysis of data sets, selection of compounds for screening, in addition to design, prioritization and synthesis of biologically active molecules. - Furthermore, you will provide scientific support and technical training for laboratory scientists. - With your expertise, you will foster team science internally across global sites in Animal Health and Human Pharma, and potentially with external partners. - In addition, you will present research findings, project updates and strategy to internal stakeholders and external collaborators. Requirements - Doctoral degree in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, or related fields with several years of industrial experience in drug discovery - Expert knowledge of synthetic chemistry - Expertise in medicinal chemistry and other disciplines related to drug discovery - Excellent problem solving skills and detail oriented, while also able to maintain strategic oversight of projects - Proven leadership skills as a project leader or line manager - Team-oriented and collegial attitude with excellent communication skills - Excelling in highly dynamic environments and eager to take on new challenges - Proficient oral and written communication skills in English as well as willingness to adopt a basic command of the German language Ready to contact us?
