The position is located in Immune Cell Biology, a department within the Discovery of the pREDs Large Molecules Research, where the development of next generation biotherapeutics and in particular deciphering of their mode of action by physiologically relevant cellular assays is the primary focus. We closely collaborate with our therapeutic areas and functions to convert therapeutic hypotheses into innovative therapeutics.
Job mission
We are offering an outstanding opportunity for an experienced automation Scientist (m/f/d) to work with a highly engaged team of immune cell & molecular biology experts for the establishment and implementation of automated high throughput FACS and Imaging workflows relevant for in vitro diverse cellular assays. You will be responsible for developing and implementing an end to end automation strategy starting with sample registration and ending with data storage & analysis.
Your impact
* Designing, developing, implementing and maintaining applications that enable to track, optimize, and automate lab workflows including sample registration & preparation, flow cytometry, Incucyte and High Throughput Imaging for diverse cellular systems such as primary cells, iPSC-derived cells & cocultures as well as organoids
* Developing end to end automation workflows and shaping automation platforms as well as programming robotic systems such as liquid handlers, robotic arms and incubators to execute a wide range of cell assays
* Shaping our automation platform and establishing best practices for the implementation of new technologies and processes.
* Scientific understanding in cell biology (with emphasis in immune & neurobiology) and hands-on experience in automated high throughput immunological cell assays for screening purposes.
* Collaborates across teams, including automation, data science, and software, to meet the workflow needs of bench scientists, troubleshoot and resolve issues, enhancing our applications' functionality and user experience.
* Nurturing trustful relationships and effective collaboration with internal and external partners.
Your profile

* You have a PhD in natural science with at least 3 years experience in drug discovery
* Your strong experience in developing high throughput automated in vitro assays combined with your background in cell biology, enables you to support our technology and portfolio projects
* Your hands-on experience in programming fully automated high throughput FACS and Imaging workflows allows you to shape and implement our automation strategy
* You have experience with vendor software supporting automation and a strong willingness to become a champion for internal digital workflow platforms, driving adoption and continuous improvement across teams
* You are resourceful and flexible in problem solving and in working in a collaborative and inclusive manner with strong oral and written English communication skills
This position is fixed-termed to two years.
