NMI archives results Masterthesis on the topic: Organ-Disc rotator module development in Reutlingen Excellent research with a view to practical application: That is our claim at the NMI Natural and Medical Sciences Institute in Reutlingen We are a non-university research institute at the interface of biosciences and materials science. With our unique, interdisciplinary range of expertise, we are a strong partner in the field of research and development as well as by providing services for regional and international companies. Our services are aimed at companies in the healthcare industry as well as in vehicle, machine and tool construction and cover the broad spectrum of materials technology and quality control. The μOrgano Lab focuses on the development, generation, and employment of microphysiological tissue models for biomedical and pharmaceutical research. We offer a position for a master student (m/f/d) to develop rotator modules for our Organ-Disc project (min. 6 months). Your tasks The project will involve developing a rotating platform or platforms to effectively load cells into the Organ-Disc and drive media perfusion at a constant flowrate. Subject of this thesis • Development and coding of an electrical system for variable rotational speeds • Basic sterile 2D cell culture and chip-culture • Interfacing to a PC for basic functional readout and datatransfer, e.g. RPM, start/stop • Establishment of consistent rotation speeds for cell loading and media perfusion in the Organ-Disc Requirements • Currently enrolled in a master´s degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Medical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar • Experience with 3D design software (i.e. SolidWorks, Fusion 360). • Electronics development and circuit design (e.g. KiCAD, Autodesk EAGLE) • Basic skills in programming microcontrollers (Arduino, Raspberry PI) • Integration of components, 3D Printing (slicing software, using filament/ resin printers) • Practical skills: soldering, lab equipment (i.e. oscilloscope, signal generator, power supplies) • Attention to detail and good organizational skills • Critical thinking and a problem-solving mind • Independent working style and pro-active • Experience in COMSOL, CAM systems/ CNC milling, and/or cell culture/ microscopy is an advantage We offer • Working within an exciting multidisciplinary project and a highly innovative research topic • Highly motivated, competent and multidisciplinary team with scientific and technical staff • An exciting and dynamic working environment in an application-oriented research institute • Excellent infrastructure and technical laboratory equipment Are you interested?
