PROTESTANT TRADITIONAL SERVICE MUSIC ACCOMPANISTThe successful candidate for this position will be a 1099 contractor with Music MinistryInternational and be responsible for the following:1. DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES:The accompanist shall provide accompanying music (performed on organ, or piano) for the choir, community singing, and liturgy at the Liturgical Service to include special Holidays and Feasts and other special services as needed. All music and singing will complement the style and atmosphere of the service being supported.2. WORK HOURS:2.1. Times for performance may vary throughout the week. Unless otherwise directed and approved by the Chaplain or designee, normal hours of performance shall be limited to service specific requirements such as the Traditional Protestant Service, rehearsals, and special services. Special services include, but are not limited to: Memorial services, Funeral services, combined services, faith specific holidays, and occasional support for special events.2.2. Arrive at least 20 minutes prior to the service start time to set up and prepare for worship in a timely manner. Any time spent immediately prior to the worship service or event is considered part of the worship service, and not a separate rehearsal.2.3. The length of the rehearsals shall be a minimum of one (1) hour, not to exceed three (3) hours.2.4. Must be physically present for major holy days and chapel events including, but not limited to, Advent/Christmas and Lent/Holy Week/Easter.3. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:3.1. Minimum of three years organ/piano instruction or experience. A degree in music and/or certification by appropriate professional organizations is desired.3.2. Ability to demonstrate proficiency in reading and interpretation of vocal and instrumental scores to include both liturgical and contemporary music.3.3. Ability to select and present music in keeping with the type of worship being celebrated in the Protestant Liturgical Service. The required instrument for this service is the organ or the piano. Proficiency on the organ is desired greater than the piano. Instruments will be provided by the Chapel.3.4. Ability to sight read and play standard hymns, anthems and special solo music, and to play an accompanying musical instrument for the choir and congregational singing suitable for this worship.4. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:4.1. Recruit volunteers, rehearse, and provide accompanying music for the Liturgical Service and at additional services at other times and locations as coordinated with the Protestant Chaplain.4.2. Conduct one weekly rehearsal. A rehearsal constitutes a minimum one-hour practice with choir members.4.3. Make a request to the Protestant Chaplain if additional rehearsals are needed.4.4. Collaborate with the Worship and Music Director to plan the music and singing according to seasons and coordinate this information with the Protestant Chaplain or designee.4.5. Coordinate with other chapel program coordinators or volunteers as required.4.6.
