Mechanical Field Technician
We are looking for a Mechanical Field Technician to be based in Botlek (Netherlands), Hattingen (Germany), or Ghent (Belgium).
In this role you will carry out field activities, such as the repair, modification, and refurbishment of mechanical equipment, mainly compressors, pumps, gearboxes, pressure systems, compressor valves, compandors, and expanders, etc., at various different European operational facilities.
Besides this, you will investigate equipment failures, determine the root cause of failure, and recommend appropriate solutions to reduce recurrence of/or eliminate the cause of failure, and provide hands-on and supervision support as required to resolve mechanical equipment field problems as they occur.
Additional responsibilities:
* Assist in the development, implementation, and periodic review of preventative/predictive maintenance programs to reduce unplanned shutdowns and improve overall plant on-stream capability.
* Keep abreast of and evaluate new methodologies, work practices, equipment, machinery, technology, etc., for application and use within the plant and participate in the planning and execution of minor and major shutdowns. Provide technical and hands-on support as required during shutdowns.
* Maintain an error-free execution, paying very close attention to detail and executing work to the highest possible standard. Apply a “Continuous Improvement” philosophy to daily work.
* Ensure all repair and overhaul work is carried out fully and effectively, within budget. You will carry out equipment modification requests to central design specifications, making sure that prior to executing the work, an MOC has previously been approved.
* Be available out of hours in the event of both mechanical breakdowns and pre-planned activities, that imply the need to work out of normal business hours. Be flexible to support in the event of both mechanical breakdowns and pre-planned activities at a location anywhere across Europe.
* Develop specialized skills in the maintenance of cryogenic expanders, pumps, and compressor valves.
To be successful, you will have:
* A background in performing preventive and corrective maintenance on machinery, pumps, reciprocating compressors, and mechanical equipment is essential for this position.
* Trade/Technical degree or apprenticeship in a related field is a plus but not required.
* Good spoken and written level of English.
* Willingness to travel 70/80% of the time.
* Strong personal safety philosophy.
* Knowledge of centrifugal and reciprocating compressor maintenance and troubleshooting.
* Machinery and rotating equipment knowledge.
* Ability to take critical measurements on equipment using precision measuring tools and document them.
* Ability to work alone with minimum supervision.
* Knowledge of pumps, gear drives, fans, vessels, and exchangers.
