About us
The DWI – Leibniz Institute for Interactive Materials is a research institution of the Leibniz Association funded by the federal and state governments. It is based on the Melaten campus of RWTH Aachen University. The DWI is taking on the challenge of surpassing disciplinary limits and tackling new questions relating to materials that combine nature and technology. It is a place where people of different talents, experiences, and skills work together to learn from each other and generate new knowledge and methods to create a better quality of life.
Position
The DWI is looking for a
Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/d/x) in the field of cartilage repair
TRIGGERINK PROJECT
The TriggerINK project is privately funded by the Werner Siemens foundation. The project focuses on 4D in-wound bioprinting for cartilage repair. The TriggerINK aims to develop materials that support chondrocytes in repairing damaged extracellular matrix and initiating cartilage healing. We combine our expertise in light-driven chemistry, protein chemistry, tissue engineering, and process engineering to develop a hydrogel ink specifically adapted for cartilage cell growth. A robotic arm is being developed for in vivo bioprinting directly in a cartilage defect.
Your tasks
* Contribute to the TriggerINK project by providing expertise in the field of cartilage repair to a multidisciplinary and international team
* Plan, establish, and conduct relevant experiments for in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo study of cartilage repair using materials developed within the TriggerINK project
* Provide assistance to analysis and interpretation of data generated from confocal microscopy, histology, and osteochondral platforms
* Participate in meetings, and give expert feedback and mentoring to PhD students involved in the project
* Present your research findings both internally and at scientific conferences, and publish your data in high impact peer-reviewed journals
Your profile
* PhD in biology, biomedical engineering, biochemistry, or related field
* Several years of experience in the field of cartilage and cartilage repair
* Extensive experience in cell culture, cell imaging, and omics
* Experience with mesenchymal stem cells and chondrocytes highly desired
* Practice in in vivo experiments and histology is a plus
* Expertise in material characterization (rheology) is a plus
* Highly motivated and team-goal oriented
