Your role:Reporting to the Head of Strategy Development of Process Solutions (PS), the Director Strategy Development will work across our Life Science PS sector & functions, incl. marketing, R&D, commercial and operations, to develop and support the execution of the PS strategy.The Director will work as an individual contributor, but in a highly collaborative manner and a global context with co workers, to identify growth drivers and challenges. She/he is able to develop data driven approaches to deeply understand the market, competitive landscape, and customer needs of today and tomorrow and is comfortable with ambiguiety. The Director is able to articulate key findings to senior business leaders and to establish credibility, trust, and respect across the organization to be seen as true thought partner. She/he needs to be able to appropriately balance multiple priorities and work against tight timelines. Key responsibility:Support the strategy development process within PS in close partnership with franchise owners and other PSLT membersIdentify market, industry, customer trends and translate into relevant insights for Process SolutionsDefine and prioritize emerging growth opportunities and articulate strategic options for Process SolutionsDevelop business plans for new initiatives, incl financial modelingPartner with peers in market intelligence, strategy integration and operationalization to ensure plans are grounded in facts and are actionableAct as partner to Business Development team to support M&A prioritization and target assessmentLead/support select strategic projects across functions and our Process Solutions business, using internal and external resources, including war gaming, workshops Establish strong relationships across Merck Life Science to ensure alignment with overall organization and understanding of our businessLocation for this role can be either for US or EUYour role:B.A. or B.S. degree (or equivalent) in life science or engineering requiredAdvanced degree in a quantitative field (MBA, Masters or PhD) preferred>5 years experience requiredManagement consulting experience required, ideally at a top tier firm Solid understanding of the pharma/life science space requiredDeep understanding of Process Solutions market and business, superior analytical skills Proven experience in strategic planning and analysis required
