The Maintenance Production Squadron is responsible for the management of all short-term maintenance activities and executes all scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance. The General Aircraft Maintenance Branch performs periodic phase/isochronal inspections, including all related functional checks of aircraft systems and aircraft structures at Main Operation Base (MOB). The Structures Section performs primary aircraft and secondary non-aircraft structural repairs, machine fabrications, forms and moulds fabrication and welding activities. The incumbent is responsible for welding, metal soldering and heat-treating of a/c parts, structural components and related support equipment/tools; for metal processing of aircraft parts, structural components and related support equipment/tools. To find out more about the background, please visit our Homepage https\://awacs.nato.int/ How to apply\: Video THE ROLE The incumbent's duties are: Performing design, repair and modification of aircraft, equipment- and tool-parts/special tools in a variety of metals and alloys in all applicable welding or hard soldering techniques, stress-relieving and heat-treating procedures; Performing design, repair, modification and fabrication of aircraft, equipment or tool parts and special tools in a variety of metals and alloys, primarily by application of machine processing techniques; Performing operator maintenance and service inspections on shop equipment and tools; Supporting other specialist in aircraft maintenance as required; Functioning as technical publications, Consolidated Tool Kit (CTK) and tool monitor; Conducting On-the-Job Training (OJT) and advises newly assigned personnel; Maintaining inspection and maintenance records; Providing technical information on assigned equipment and recommending methods to improve equipment performance and maintenance procedures; Supporting the evaluation of equipment change proposals, modifications etc; Operating logistics related computer terminals; Supporting local manufacturing of metal tools and equipment; Operating motor vehicles, support and test equipment; Performing dispatcher and general housekeeping duties, including ground snow/ice removal. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Good working knowledge of welding and soldering techniques, heat-treatment and stress relieving processes and their limitations acquired through at least 2 years current related professional experience; Knowledge of various machine/metal processing techniques like metal turning or milling/cutting acquired through at least 3 years related, current professional experience. Experience in interpreting technical publications, blueprints and drawings and in independently analyzing and solving technical problems; Secondary education and completed basic vocational training in a metal processing field, preferably in an aerospace industrial environment; Secondary education and completed basic vocational training as machine operator, lathe operator, milling cutter or instrument/industrial tool mechanic; Secondary education and basic training for specific task related skills, with 2 years experience; Certified welder with current (valid) certification of applicable professional standards; Driving license equivalent to European Class B; The work both oral and written, in this post and in this Headquarters as a whole, is conducted mainly in English therefore sufficient English proficiency is essential; Adequate knowledge of Standard Automatic Data Processing (ADP) is required. THE FOLLOWING WOULD BE CONSIDERED AS AN ADVANTAGE Previous NATO assignment; Experience working in an international / military environment; Familiarity with a/c structural repair; Basic working knowledge of machine metal-processing techniques; Experience in maintaining aircraft; Experience/certification in the welding of aircraft parts or similar techniques.
