The Job The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will be instrumental in building and scaling the operations of a fast-growing startup at the forefront of Germany's Energiewende (energy transition). The COO will take charge of setting up the foundational structures, processes, and teams required for scalable growth, while driving operational excellence. This role demands a leader with a proven track record in developing high-performing teams, designing efficient operational frameworks, and utilizing data-driven approaches to optimize performance. Key Responsibilities Operational Excellence: Drive and refine end-to-end operations across our energy platform, with a strong focus on the smart metering business. You’ll optimize processes from supply chain and logistics to customer support, ensuring seamless integration between our energy management solutions and the needs of homeowners. Your goal: operational efficiency that matches the cutting-edge nature of our technology. Scaling for Growth: As Spot My Energy expands, you’ll be at the forefront of building scalable systems and processes. From managing partnerships with hardware providers (such as PV systems, EV chargers, and home storage units) to optimizing installations and customer onboarding, you’ll create the infrastructure to help us scale rapidly while maintaining top-tier service. Innovation & Strategy: In close collaboration with the CEO and the rest of the leadership team, you’ll help shape the strategy that keeps Spot My Energy ahead of the curve in a rapidly evolving market. Together, you’ll ensure our execution, tech and business model are always on point and ahead of competitors. Team Leadership: Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing operations team focused on excellence, speed, and innovation. You’ll foster a culture of accountability and customer-centricity, ensuring that both our customers and partners are satisfied and loyal and your team can thrive. Your profile Experience 5-8 years of operations management experience, including a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role, preferably within a startup or scale-up environment. Proven track record in building and leading teams, establishing operational processes, and scaling operations in a fast-paced startup context. Familiarity with relevant industries, including B2B2C business models, the German energy market, or installation businesses, is advantageous. Leadership Skills Strong leadership and team-building capabilities, with hands-on experience in hiring, structuring, and developing high-performance teams. Proven ability to cultivate a culture of accountability, innovation, and collaboration across the organization. Working Characteristics Highly analytical and structured approach to problem-solving, with experience in designing and implementing data-driven operational frameworks.
