Global Group Controller
DLL’s Group Control department is looking for experienced Big 4 Financial Auditors with business experience who resonate with our DLL Group Control’s mission statement:
We believe in promoting a mature financial control mindset into DLL by setting clear policies, norms and driving continuous improvement through energizing collaboration, coaching, measurement, and practical feedback based on trustful relationships.
Our mission is based on collaboration with our subsidiaries all around the world. Coaching and support for our subsidiaries on how to optimize financial control, internal control and processes. As a Group Controller, you are welcomed with open arms to our offices around the world where you get energized establishing international relationships as a true business partner.
You have a natural interest in understanding the business (transactions) and business processes that drive the numbers in the balance sheet and P&L. In other words, you know the story behind the numbers and therefore be able to communicate with a business-minded view.
So, would you like to utilize your skills on a global scale and be part of a highly diverse and international organization?
Then we would like to hear from you!
Day to day:
What does the role look like?
In this global Group Controller role, as part of Group Control within the Group Finance department, you will safeguard that business processes of DLL’s operating units domestic and abroad (more than 25, across Europe, Asia, Pacific and North/Latin America) result in high quality (and IFRS compliant) financial reporting. Your process thinking skills, business instincts and financial audit experience are essential to make a difference within this role.
In addition, the role encompasses participating in global projects to improve the Finance function as well as hands-on support to enhance the level of financial control in our local entities. Overall, you will be highly involved in bringing the organizational mindset related to process thinking, risk thinking and internal control to the next level.
* Execute on-site reviews of the financial reporting process (for example month end closing documentation) and internal control effectiveness in DLL’s local entities across the globe and identify opportunities for further maturing/improving these processes.
* Travelling abroad for the on-site reviews, accounts for 10%-15% of your time; when not traveling the team is present in the corporate head-office in Eindhoven (the Netherlands) on average 3 days per week.
* Take personal pride in and be recognized by stakeholders for advising on concrete business process improvements which you will discover as part of your reviews.
* Report and discuss the observations of the reviews to relevant Country Management Teams (e.g., local CEO, local CFO) and translate improvement areas into concrete advice.
* For specific local entities, act as coach/mentor for local finance specialists and provide support and pragmatic solutions to enhance the financial closing processes, further embed the control culture and realize efficiencies and improved quality of business processes.
* Promote thinking in processes, risks and controls and dare to challenge the status quo (“Can we achieve the same in a more efficient way, or by accepting certain risks?”).
* Search for root causes of identified issues, by thinking outside the traditional Finance function to help create solutions for the identified issues together with the business.
* Manage/participate in global initiatives (e.g., to implement new systems, procedures and processes).
* Evaluate the results of the internal control framework reported by the local countries, “consolidate” these and report towards our parent company Rabobank.
* Develop, maintain and monitor Group policies, guidance documents and toolkits on internal control topics and financial processes (e.g., segregation of duties, electronic audit evidence).
