Join us as our Senior Legal Counsel - Germany, Austria, Netherlands & Serbia who will support our operational teams in Germany, Austria, Netherlands & Serbia to develop these markets and help create the finance solution all businesses love. Your principal responsibility will be to join our fast-growing German team, Qonto’s 2nd biggest market and a key growth focus area for Qonto at the moment since acquiring Penta in 2022. You will additionally be responsible for two key markets in our international expansion: Austria and the Netherlands, both launched in 2024. You will also assist our Serbian teams who provide support to our German team. We’re looking for an experienced and dedicated legal counsel to cover the German market and also to manage the Austrian, Dutch and Serbian markets, who will help us draft, negotiate, and ultimately create strong partnerships to position us as a leader in the business banking sector. As Senior Legal Counsel at Qonto, you will • Support operational, business, product, brand marketing, and HR teams on all the legal aspects of their projects (new features, integration, API connection, IP protection, privacy/GDPR risks, advertising campaigns, events, communications, employment matters, etc.) • Be responsible for drafting and negotiating complex and strategic partnership agreements with major partners (banks, insurers, tax agencies, technical providers etc.) • Be responsible for day-to-day legal operations in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands & Serbia, acting as a de facto general counsel for these regions. • Provide high-quality, risk-based legal advice across a range of commercial areas while being the best business partner. • Liaise with external local law firms What you can expect • You will be part of the Global Legal Team composed of 25 people working from France and Italy • You will work on a wide range of legal subjects and with cross-functional teams in Germany and France, in addition to Qonto’s other markets. • You will report directly to a senior legal team leader and work with people from all positions and teams. • You will have ownership and a high level of influence in helping Qonto close key partnerships that will help us achieve our goals. About You • You have strong expertise in German law and understand well the German regulatory system • You have strong project management and prioritization skills • You have the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment • You are proactive, curious, and eager to learn all you can about the world of payment services and business banking. • You have at least 5 years of experience in a law firm providing commercial, and strategic advice to German businesses or a digital & fast-paced start-up/scale-up • You have experience leading complex commercial transactions with full autonomy • You have the ability to work across all levels of the organization including multiple functional and business stakeholders You are fluent in German and English ; knowledge of French and/or another Qonto market language is a big plus.
