For our multidisciplinary, highly motivated R&D team we are currently searching for a PhD chemist as Principal (m / f/ d) with international professional experience for the development of advanced analytical methods for new contact lens materials and lens care products.
The ideal candidate should have extensive experience and knowledge in polymer science, structure-property-process relationships, and characterization techniques.
In this role, a typical day will include:
1. Demonstrating scientific leadership by applying scientific/technical expertise in chemical characterization and separation science to identify and resolve complex chemistry issues.
2. Developing advanced analytical methods to characterize and understand the structure-property relationship and the surface/interface properties of polymeric materials such as macromers and hydrogels.
3. Participating in sub-teams, using profound technical/scientific knowledge to advise and contribute to all function strategies and goals.
4. Assisting management of project activities, support/coach and laterally lead scientists, researchers, and technicians, foster a collaborative and innovative culture.
5. Providing answers to ad hoc questions related to chemical characterization, structural elucidation, trace analysis, and impurity identification.
Requirements:
6. PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, or other relevant disciplines with 5 years of post-graduate experience.
7. Experience with LC-MS, GPC or MALDI-TOF method development is highly preferred.
8. The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English.
9. Prior experience working in the medical device field and regulated laboratory setting per GLP/GDP requirements is preferred.
