THE ROLE
As the Global Director of Supplier Management, you will be responsible for managing strategic supplier relationships, leading negotiations, and sourcing new suppliers. Reporting directly to the COO, your primary duties will include holding strategic negotiations with suppliers and vendors, scouting for new partnerships, and fostering strong, long-term relationships to ensure sustainable cooperation and growth.
This is a high-impact role that requires an analytical and visionary approach to supply chain management and supplier management, with an emphasis on quality, cost efficiency and sustainability.
YOUR JOB AS PART OF THE CANYON CREW
Supplier Strategy
* Develop and execute a global supplier management and sourcing strategies aligned with Canyon’s growth objectives, sustainability goals, and product innovation.
* Lead the supplier evaluation and selection process, ensuring alignment with company standards on quality, sustainability, cost, and delivery performance.
* Conduct competitive benchmarking through strong research and analysis and develop a global competitive supplier panel.
* Continuously analyze global procurement market trends and industry development to stay up-to-date on the latest sourcing strategies and best practices.
* Application and further development of modern negotiation tools and game theory approaches as well as maintaining the company’s database of vendors and suppliers.
Supplier Relationship Management
* Foster strong, collaborative relationships with key suppliers, creating strategic partnerships that deliver long-term value, innovation, cost savings and product quality improvement.
* Negotiate and manage contracts, ensuring competitive pricing, commercial terms, and compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
* Oversee supplier performance management, including regular reviews, audits, and compliance checks to ensure adherence to contractual agreements, quality standards, and sustainability goals.
* Act as the key liaison between suppliers and internal teams, including procurement, quality, R&D, and production.
Performance & Risk Management
* Establish metrics and KPIs to monitor supplier performance, including on-time delivery, cost efficiency, and product quality.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers to enhance quality, reduce lead times, and improve cost structures.
* Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, developing contingency plans to ensure business continuity.
Sustainability & Compliance
* Ensure all suppliers adhere to ethical sourcing and sustainability practices, in line with company and regulatory standards.
* Lead initiatives to improve sustainability across the supply chain, such as reducing environmental impact, minimizing waste, and promoting fair labor practices.
* Constantly assess changes in regulations to identify opportunities and limit risks.
Global Supply Chain Optimization
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders to optimize the end-to-end supply chain, from sourcing raw materials to final product delivery.
* Implement advanced supply chain technologies and best practices to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance supplier collaboration.
* Participate in cross-functional initiatives to expand global supply networks, penetrate new markets, and support the company’s growth strategy.
Financial Management
* Develop and manage the supplier management budget, ensuring optimal use of resources and alignment with business goals.
* Develop cost-reduction initiatives and drive cost transparency across the supply chain without compromising quality or innovation.
* Collaborate with finance to track and report on supplier-related costs and savings initiatives.
HOW YOU BECOME PART OF THE RACE
* Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Management, Engineering or a related field.
* 7+ years of experience in strategic supplier management, sourcing or supply chain management.
* Experience in the cycling industry is a plus.
* Demonstrated success in developing and managing complex supplier networks and proven track record of leading large-scale sourcing operations with global suppliers.
* Strong knowledge in procurement, compliance and contract management.
* Expertise in contract negotiation, cost optimization, and supplier performance management.
* Strong financial acumen, with the ability to drive cost savings and manage large budgets effectively.
* Knowledge of industry standards for sustainability, quality control, and regulatory compliance.
* Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to inspire and influence cross-functional teams in a global, fast-paced environment.
* Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
* Willingness to travel.
* Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a passion for cycling or outdoor sports preferred.
* Very good English skills, Asian language skills are a plus.
