Description The Director acts as overarching governance driver for all regions worldwide regarding Port Terminal Procurement activities While responsibilities within the team are distributed upon geographical regions (continents) around the world, with core focus on support towards our regional procurement teams, the Director is responsible to oversee a team of (Senior) Managers with dedicated geographical scope and safeguard overall governance Responsibilities Ensure comprehensive strategic coverage of the terminal vendor portfolio according to vendor segmentation (budget, sourcing, etc.) Actively drive the professionalization of the terminal procurement function by implementing and enhancing methods and frameworks including port and terminal playbooks and supplier relationship management Contribute to the development of procurement frameworks and processes, oversee, lead and take accountability for relevant procurement projects with tangible roadmaps Work closely with complementary procurement teams to implement the category strategy, including responsibility for stakeholder management towards regional procurement heads Develop, enhance and execute negotiation strategies towards terminal operators assigned and faciliate structured capturing, documentation and exchange of lessons learned Faciliate close interactions with contract management to ensure compliance in realization of contractual parameters (in collaboration with the regions) Execute strategic supplier management tasks and create, evolve and enhance stakeholder relationships Oversee balancing of opportunities provided by various available terminal operators and actively facilitate identification and realization of potentials for value add through collaboration Faciliate collection of insights and conducting of research activities for the relevant vendor segment Provide relevant market insights for the regions and other internal stakeholders Drive alignment with other procurement-internal and -external stakeholders and focus on pro-active identification of additional value add potentials for assigned vendor segment (i.e. sustainability, extension of business portfolio etc.) Qualifications University degree in the field of business administration, logistics, transportation management or comparable qualification Minimum of five years’ experience with transportation, shipping, terminals operations or similar Minimum of five years’ experience in procurement functions Minimum of three years’ experience in a leadership role Result-oriented, enthusiastic, pro-active and problem-solving skills Very good negotiation skills and conflict management finesse Strong and motivating leadership competence Extensive experience in successful stakeholder management Effective communicator, fluent in English both verbal and written
