This position is part of our newly established Deutz Defense Systems organization and offers the exciting opportunity to actively shape and further develop this forward-looking business area.
What you can expect from us:
* In the Defense division, you take on the role of Manager Export Control, Compliance & Risk Management.
* You act as an Export Control Advisor for the Defense area as well as for regional Sales and Customer Success teams. In matters of export control, you report functionally to the Export Control department of DEUTZ AG and closely coordinate your activities with the Legal, Compliance, R&D, and Supply Chain Management departments.
* You stay informed about changing sanctions, trade embargoes, and external/internal regulations and provide guidance on necessary adjustments.
* You ensure that all relevant national and international export control laws are known and followed within your area of responsibility, particularly with regard to national defense and security export controls, EU regulations, and international law (e.g., BAFA, U.S. ITAR & EAR).
* You review the legality of export transactions in accordance with foreign trade laws and internal policies and, if necessary, coordinate with the export control department regarding application processing and interaction with authorities. You work closely with all relevant Defense departments to ensure that all approvals and documentation are complete and properly submitted. You also serve as the point of contact for external audits within the Defense division.
* You conduct internal audits and risk assessments for the Defense area to identify and mitigate potential compliance risks.
* To raise awareness of export control regulations, you identify training needs, organize, and conduct export control training sessions, with a focus on Defense.
* As the main contact for the Defense area regarding full implementation of internal policies and guidelines, you support the Export Control Officer and the Export Control Representatives of DEUTZ AG in all corporate export control measures.
* You ensure that all employees in the Defense division understand and follow the company’s Code of Conduct regarding international trade and defense-related sales.
* You provide expert advice on localization strategies and production requirements to ensure compliance with export control laws in these contexts.
* You assess the regulatory implications of planning and implementing local production sites in various regions.
* You support business expansion and market entry strategies by advising on country-specific export control restrictions and production incentives.
* Together with the respective departments, you are responsible for applying for and renewing export licenses, Technical Assistance Agreements (TAAs), and end-user certificates for the Defense division, in accordance with the central Export Control department of DEUTZ AG.
* According to organizational policies, communication with export control authorities is handled by you.
* You provide advice on technology transfer regulations to ensure compliance with military use classifications and dual-use regulations.
What sets you apart:
* Completed degree in Business Law, Business Administration, International Law, International Trade, Industrial Engineering, or a comparable field.
* Several years of professional experience in export control, compliance, customs, or international trade law, ideally in the defense industry.
* You are characterized by a high level of discretion and sense of responsibility, as well as excellent communication skills across all hierarchical levels, both internally and externally.
* You are empathetic in dealing with different personalities and their needs, while also being independent and confident in your argumentation.
* You have experience with licensing procedures and interactions with authorities.
* You possess business-fluent German and English skills.
* You are confident in using relevant IT systems (e.g. SAP GTS, compliance software) and have experience with implementing new modules.
* A certification in export control or customs (e.g. Certified Export Control Manager) is desirable.
