We’re building out our data and machine learning infrastructure and forming a new data platform team. This role is about driving innovation in data science and machine learning for the business at Thieme, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and leading the development of advanced analytics solutions that have a business impact.

Your new passion
1. Lead complex data science projects: Own the end-to-end lifecycle of data science projects, from problem definition to model/solution deployment and monitoring.
2. Develop advanced machine learning models: Build and deploy machine learning models, leveraging techniques like deep learning, natural language processing, and computer vision.
3. Collaborate with stakeholders: Work closely with business stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into actionable data science solutions.
4. Mentor and guide team members: Share your expertise and knowledge with junior data scientists and data engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
5. Contribute to data platform development: Collaborate with data engineers to design and implement robust and scalable data pipelines and infrastructure.
6. Drive innovation: Stay up to date with the latest trends in data science and machine learning and identify opportunities to apply these to solve real-world problems.
You inspire us with this
1. Strong technical skills: Proficiency in Python, SQL, and machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn or spacy. Comfortable navigating modern cloud data science environments and pipelines on AWS, Google or Azure.
2. Extensive track record of addressing large-scale real-world problems using machine learning throughout the entire product cycle.
3. Experience with NLP, ideally with a focus on latest developments around LLMs and related technologies like RAG, langchain and vector databases.
4. Prior domain experience and an understanding of areas such as healthcare or publishing.
5. Clear, audience-sensitive style to verbal and written communication in German and English. A B2/C1 level in German is required.
6. Experience building and maintaining at least one data/ML platform over a long period of time.
7. Understanding of traditional data warehouse architecture, concepts like data meshes, and BI related data challenges.
