About the FSTM The University of Luxembourg is an international research university with a distinctly multilingual and interdisciplinary character. The Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine (FSTM) at the University of Luxembourg contributes multidisciplinary expertise in the fields of Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Life Sciences and Medicine. Since 2017, the research group for Big Data, Data Science & Databases, headed by Prof. Dr. Martin Theobald, investigates scalable architectures for various data analytics tasks. Our recent contributions include the TriAD distributed graph database, the TensAIR distributed streaming engine for online learning, as well as various works on probabilistic databases, information extraction and knowledge graph construction (see https://dblp.org/pid/t/MartinTheobald.html for a recent list of publications). Your role The current opening for a Postdoctoral Researcher is based on a structural position which can be funded for up to five years by the Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine (FSTM). We expect the successful candidate to contribute to our ongoing research and teaching activities at the intersection of Big Data, Databases and Machine Learning. A particular focus is put on recent advances in the areas of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) and Large Language Models (LLMs). The position offers a high degree of freedom in developing also own research interests and further specialization within the above areas. The successful candidate will join the Big Data Research Group and will also actively be involved in the supervision of PhD students who are currently working in collaboration with the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) and the Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (C2DH).
