Global EHS Manager (f/m/d)
Responsibilities & Qualifications
What awaits you:
Novelis team is seeking a Global EHS Manager position. The person in this role will report to the Global VP of EHS. The ideal candidate will be responsible for Global School of EHS, including EHS Training & Development Programs designed for operators, front line supervisors, plant managers, senior leadership, new employees, EHS staff, other relevant functions on various EHS topics including technical and behavioral aspects of EHS, coaching and mentoring. The candidate will also serve as technical & leadership resource for occupational safety and provide leadership activities for prevention of EHS incidents, including acting as lead investigator supporting the plants identify Root Cause Analysis and establishing Corrective Action and Preventative Actions and measure effectiveness, reviewing accident investigation reports to ensure that corrective actions will eliminate recurrence and at-risk behaviors and conditions and providing advice and council to plants in hazard recognition and mitigation through EHS Advocacy programs and training. The candidate will ensure that all of Novelis’ EHS values as espoused in the EHS Policy are followed and adhered to by all operations in the regions.
1. Develop and lead the Global School of EHS, including EHS Training & Development Programs, in partnership with the HR Global learning team and other relevant stakeholders (external consultants, HR learning team, local HR, region/plant EHS) to develop and implement a global EHS training framework. The scope includes programs designed for operators, front line supervisors, plant managers, senior leadership, new employees, EHS staff, other relevant functions on various EHS topics including the technical and behavioral aspects of EHS, coaching and mentoring.
2. Responsible for assessing competence levels of employees, related to EHS
3. Responsible for defining EHS learning & development objectives, .
4. Deliver training to different levels of the organization and measuring effectiveness, including Train the trainer approaches.
5. Act as a Strategic Partner with the regions and global EHS staff. In general, the position acts as an EHS champion, strategic partner and internal consultant. Provide site support related to injury prevention
6. Provide coaching to line management related to Key initiatives, Line Accountability and Reports
7. Provides specific subject matter expertise, consulting and leadership for specific EHS program design and implementation.
8. Demonstrates extensive EHS knowledge in the field of specialization or multiple disciplines to the successful completion of complex assignments. Successfully serves as point of authority and/or source of technical/scientific knowledge for area of expertise. Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of organization's business practices and critical EHS issues and, contributes to problem resolution of those.
9. Actively participate in audit programs and EHS Management System Audits, Advocacy visits at a global scale
10. Active participation in the Novelis EHS Council and regional EHS networking meetings
11. Monitor adoption of Novelis Shared Practices or key learnings from Novelis EHS Community
How you convince us:
12. Bachelor’s degree in an EHS program or related discipline
13. Minimum 10-15 years of combined experience balanced in the occupational health and safety fields. This position requires knowledge and skill in the areas of machine guarding, lock out tag out, mobile equipment and pedestrian safety, electrical safety, fall protection, cranes & lifting, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, regulatory audits; governmental &/or state certification (Manufacturing Sector); project management, supervision and training prescribed by additional Programs within which the position has a number of defined roles and responsibilities
14. Experience in training, learning and development in a multiple location environment
15. Advanced knowledge of Europe’s EHS related regulations
16. Experience with Work Council
17. Experience in large, multi-national industrial manufacturing corporations
18. Proven ability to work independently as well as lead/participate on teams and work in a matrix environment.
19. Proven experience as a self-starter, who effectively manages multiple tasks, achieves results with minimal supervision and possesses excellent documentation and record-keeping skills.
20. Creativity, Problem Solving, Critical Thinking, Ability to Influence, Persistence, Practicality, Ability to Communicate to all Levels and cultures, Enthusiasm/Passion
21. Ability to understand customers need both internal and external and translate that understanding into action.
22. Ability to work and achieve success in a matrix environment keeping key stakeholders informed and engaged.
23. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
24. Travel requirement: 50 – 60%, mostly in Europe and a few times to other regions/locations
25. German native speaker and strong English communication skills
