The Institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology of the Medical Faculty of the Ruhr University Bochum is seeking to fill the position of a part-time (65%) scientific assistant (m-w-d) as soon as possible as part of a research project funded by the German Research Foundation. The position is initially limited to 3 years. Depending on the tasks assigned and the fulfillment of personal requirements, remuneration will be paid up to pay group 13 TV-L.
The Institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology, headed by Professor Ralf Benndorf, is involved in translational research projects in the field of pharmacological cardiovascular and tumor research and is responsible for teaching pharmacology and toxicology to students of human medicine within the Faculty of Medicine.
The candidate will investigate questions of personalized therapy of cardiovascular diseases (arterial hypertension, atherosclerosis, aortic aneurysms) using cell cultures and genetically modified mouse lines. The candidate must be willing to familiarize him/herself with cell/molecular biological, microscopic, biochemical and animal experimental techniques. The possibility of a doctorate is given.
Implementation of cell biological (including signal transduction analyses in vascular cells), protein biochemical and molecular biological methods with a thematic focus on “personalized therapy of cardiovascular diseases”
FRET microscopy-based analysis of receptor-receptor interactions
Stable transduction of vascular cells and cell lines using lentiviral vectors
Participation in animal experiments on the topic of “arterial hypertension, atherosclerosis and aortic aneurysms”
Histologic and immunohistologic analyses
Documentation, evaluation and presentation of results and writing of publications
Completed studies in pharmacy, biochemistry, biology, veterinary medicine, biotechnology or a comparable degree program
Experience in cell biology, protein biochemistry and molecular biology techniques is an advantage.
Authorization to carry out animal experiments independently (proven by FELASA Category B certificate) is an advantage
Excellent knowledge of German and very good knowledge of English
Knowledge of standard histological or microscopic techniques is an advantage
