Job Category: Manufacturing/Operations Job Family: Operations Leadership Job Description: Responsible for providing leadership and direction to Formulations personnel within Schreiber Operations in Europe and Africa. Position is responsible for the integrity of the company’s formulation processes to assure product identity and functionality requirements are met. Partner in this position assists in recommending, developing and monitoring formulation policies and procedures to ensure formula optimization, in cooperation with Operations. Works closely with Innovation, Enterprise Quality and Purchasing to implement formulations techniques and variations to utilize available raw materials to provide low formula costs while retaining product identity and functionality requirements Provide technical expertise and training for Plant Formulation partners, coordinate experimentation and interface with Product Innovation for product development. This position is the link between US, LATAM and Asia for maintaining and growing process cheese global dominance. Role & Responsibilities: Ensure food-safe and high-quality formulations in assigned facilities. Monitor key processes, data and performance indicators that impact food safety, process consistency, product quality and profitability. Identify gaps and work with plant teams as well as other groups to improve outcomes. Employ root cause analysis and associated methodologies to assess product and process challenges, coordinate remediation, communication, process/policy enhancements and coordinate corrective and preventative actions. Actively support Operations, Sales, Innovation and other impacted groups in commercialization and capital pr ojects driving formulation deliverables. Act as liaison between corporate Product Innovation and plant for experiments and product development. Develop and control formulations that will be most efficient in terms of cost and utilization; control the cheese and ingredient usage through the blending system and monitor the online quality of blends. Develops and implements standards, goals/objectives to assure daily process accountabilities are in place and accurate. Work closely with Sourcing to identify new suppliers, expand the supplier portfolio and look for alternative formulation ways. Assist with maintain the rotating salvage, bulk cheese and ingredient inventories. Implement systems to minimize all inventories. Along with Finance, assures formula costing is accurately reflected within the Standard Cost System. Provide technical assistance in terms of data, training and expertise for other departments with special emphasis on SPC, TQA, HACCP, MRP, etc. Train, educate and coach plant leaders and partners in formulation processes as well as product requirements. Expand quality/formulation insight throughout each facility and develop expertise within Operation leaders and professionals. Provide technical support to key internal and external customers. Analyse our system for risks and prioritize initiatives based upon opportunities and risks which will be most efficient in terms of cost and/or utilization. Creates measures and audits of our processes to monitor and ensure compliance to product identity and functionality requirements within our facilities. Key ingredients: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Dairy, Food Science or related field 10 years of experience and at least 5 years’ experience in Formulation, Research or Operation, preferable Process Cheese Manufacturing Proven leadership and influence in cross-functional settings Excellent written and oral communication skills Proven troubleshooting and leadership of technical personnel Results oriented, experience in food safety, quality methodologies, audit processes and Process Cheese experience. Preferable UHT formulation experience Demonstrated ability to develop and execute a strategy.
