OUR INSTITUTE…
ranks among the largest and most modern institutions in the field of low-temperature plasmas worldwide. In an international working environment, we conduct socially relevant research within our core areas Agriculture, Bioeconomy & Environment, Plasma Medicine, Surfaces & Materials, Process- & Energy Technology and Smart Data Technologies. Currently the INP employs about 200 scientists and staff at three locations (Greifswald, Rostock and Karlsburg).

DOCTORAL CANDIDATE (f/m/d)
Interaction between steam plasma and glass fibre reinforced plastics (GRP)
Limited to 4 years / Weekly working time 30 hours / Remuneration according to TV-L remuneration group 13 (gross salary range depending on professional experience, see remuneration table 2025) The PhD topic aims at the investigation of the interaction between steam plasma and glass fibre reinforced plastics (GRP). The project background is framed in a novel plasma-assisted recycling processes for composite materials. The goal is the physical, chemical and material characterization of the conversion processes. Various diagnostic and analytical methods are used for this purpose, such as diagnostics of electrical signals, optical diagnostics (high-speed imaging, spectroscopy, pyrometry) and material analysis methods.
The following tasks and steps are planned for the PhD:
to acquire in-depth knowledge in the fields of plasma physics, high-temperature chemistry, optical diagnostics and material analysis;
to support in designing and setting up of the test stand and on the selection of relevant diagnostics;
to carry on and to document the experiments and measurements of the steam plasma-GRP interaction;
to evaluate and publish the results;
to monitor and support the experiments and material characterization at the project partners.
