About the Role:
As a Key Account Manager your main responsibility will be to build and grow long-term strategic partnerships with assigned (major) key accounts, in order to achieve sustainable and profitable sales growth.
Reporting directly to the Director Sales, you will take ownership for the overall business development of these assigned accounts.
For this important role we are seeking a dedicated, self-motivated and pro-active person, who enjoys to build relationships with their customers for a better mutual understanding and cooperation.
A successful Key Account Manager is able to maximize the sale of Bourns overall portfolio of products into the customers’ applications and products, linking needs with solutions.
Partnering closely with the various Bourns Product Lines and actively driving roadmaps and NPI will support the long term success with their key accounts.
Your primary duties and responsibilities:
1. Obtaining purchase orders from assigned Key Account Customers.
1. Developing new business for Bourns, insuring proper handling of customer orders and coordinating Bourns contacts with customers.
2. Acting as the main interface & coordinator for assigned Key Accounts in Europe Region and helping to coordinate and track projects in other regions outside of Europe in cooperation with Area Sales Managers and Field Application Engineers.
3. Making an optimum number of face to face sales calls to engineering and purchasing contacts for the purpose of product presentations, pursuing information and obtaining sales orders.
4. Seeking new uses and applications for company products. Assisting customers in adopting company products to their own requirements and specifications.
5. Acquiring comprehensive knowledge of all customer personnel and products.
6. Presenting a professional demeanor and image to the customer and within Bourns.
7. Achieving monthly sales booking quotas and forecasts.
8. Making consistent effort to improve knowledge of Bourns product portfolio.
9. Responding to management requests and directives in a positive way.
10. Providing Director Sales / Regional Sales Manager with a customer / product forecast on a timely, monthly basis.
11. Submitting to Director Sales / Regional Sales Manager monthly information on customers and market trends
12. Turning in weekly expense reports on time and uses funds properly.
13. Complying with all company policies, instructions, and directives for the fulfillment of the company objectives and for maximum profitable sales.
14. Remaining alert to competitive products and merchandising practices, and keeps management informed concerning them.
15. Recommending the addition of new products and the modification or deletion of present products to the product line as appropriate.
16. Attending and participating in sales meetings, training programs, conventions, sales contests, and trade shows as directed.
You are the ideal candidate if you have:
* A sound background in electrical engineering, preferably electronics and a minimum of five years successful experience in a sales function.
* The ability to develop and maintain a cordial relationship with engineers and buyers.
* The ability to interpret customer specifications and make recommendations to customer engineers to "design-in" equivalent Bourns components.
* The ability to operate with a minimum of supervision and the ability to solve problems with a minimum of guidance.
* Are a self-starter, dependable and have initiative coupled with willingness to carry responsibility.
* Are fluent in English & German.
