Tasks
* Lead and co-lead the design and conduct of clinical trials and clinical research in collaboration with Principal Investigators and Head of DCR.
* Responsible for the academic performance and delivery of the DCR divisions of statistics and methodology, study management and monitoring and data management
* Conduct own research, fostering collaborations with other DCR professors.
* Academic performance in line with the standards (initially Associate Professor) of the University of Bern. This includes grant acquisition, high-impact publications, presentations, and leadership roles in national and international research community.
* Define and implement new services and research agendas for the DCR divisions, contributing to the overall strategy, potentially as part of the DCR Senior Leadership Team.
* Represent the oversighted DCR divisions internally and externally
* Work closely with the DCR Business Operations to ensure effective financial planning, staffing, infrastructure development, and compliance with policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.
* Engage with clinical researchers, DCR staff, University Hospitals Professors, and other researchers to increase the diversity and scope of projects within the DCR.
Requirements
* University degree in medicine or related health science field
* Second or postgraduate degree at PhD level or equivalent level in medical/biostatistics or relevant aspect of clinical trial development /conduct
* Habilitation or equivalent qualification.
* Strong experience in patient-oriented clinical research, including innovative study methods such as pragmatic trials.
* Extensive knowledge of applicable Swiss regulations, and Good Clinical Practice (at least 10 years)
* Experience in the design, implementation, conduct and analysis of interventional and observational clinical studies, particularly the use of novel methodologies
* Academic track record in clinical research, including peer-reviewed grants
* Leadership and management experience and formal or informal leadership training with the intention to undertake formal training
* Fluent in English
