Job description:
• Participation in research, teaching, and examinations in the field of development in childhood and adolescence with a focus on emotional and social development
• Participation in research in international networks and consortia (e.g., the Early Childhood Peace Consortium, and with international non governmental organizations (e.g., International Rescue Committee, Save the Children)
• Participation in the acquisition and implementation of third-party-funded projects
• Teach courses in the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs in special education
• Supervision of students
Requirements:
Completed academic university degree (Master, Magister, Diploma, State Examination) in psychology, pedagogy (e.g., special education), educational or social science
Desirable:
• Readiness and strong motivation to conduct research in one of the following areas:
- Promoting social and emotional skills, especially in early childhood (0-8 years), through formal (e.g., school) and non-formal (e.g., parenting and family programs) education
- Education and development of children and young people in humanitarian contexts and crises (Education in Emergencies)
- Development of social and emotional skills of children and young people in marginalized and precarious living situations
• Experience in working in international contexts (e.g., working in or with international non-governmental organizations)
• Interest in translating research results for strategic influence on political actors and stakeholders
• Good knowledge of quantitative research methods and statistics
• Very good written and spoken English skills
• Good written and spoken knowledge of at least one other working language of the United Nations, preferably Arabic or Spanish
• Independent work and personal commitment
