Your position
As the Department Lead // Sub-Chapter Lead for Project Management at Roche Diagnostics, your role is to oversee and guide the project management capabilities within your sub-chapter. You provide effective leadership to your team, offering guidance, coaching, and support throughout project execution. You foster a culture of high performance, continuous improvement, and accountability. Your responsibilities also include maintaining and improving project management resources and aligning them with industry standards and best practices. Collaboration with other leads is crucial for sharing best practices and allocating resources effectively. Overall, your role is instrumental in driving project management excellence and contributing to the success of Roche Diagnostics. Furthermore, you will interact closely with other Chapters within PPM to determine how to deliver comprehensive and successful solutions to business challenges.
The opportunity
* Provide effective leadership and support to your team (approx 15 people) by offering guidance, coaching, and support throughout project execution.
* Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation by encouraging the identification and implementation of best practices and innovative approaches.
* Act as a line manager and encourage team members to take ownership of their professional development journeys, fostering a supportive and growth-oriented environment, while also providing training opportunities to enhance project management skills and knowledge in best practices.
* Set an example as a VACC leader, including promoting leading from where people are, as well as a creative mindset.
* Ensure that the project management capabilities within your sub-chapter are aligned with the current and future needs of the organization.
* Continuously assess and analyze these needs, identifying areas for improvement and development.
* Be accountable for maintaining and improving all resources associated with the sub-chapter. This includes project management methodologies, tools, systems, etc.
* Ensure that these resources are up to date, aligned with industry standards, and reflect best practices.
* Monitoring and ensuring the quality of project management deliverables, ensuring adherence to project management standards and practices.
* Collaborate with other Chapter Leads (CLs), Sub Chapter Leads (SCLs), and Network Leads (NLs) to share best practices, align strategies, and effectively allocate resources based on organizational priorities. Work together to make informed decisions regarding project assignments, resource allocation, and timelines, ensuring that projects are appropriately staffed and resources are allocated efficiently to meet organizational goals.
* Work closely with Networks, CLs, SCLs, and relevant functional partners to identify strategic directions and translate them into capability needs.
* Foster a collaborative approach that encourages knowledge sharing and learning across teams, facilitating the exchange of best practices and lessons learned.
* Support the long-term vision of the PMC and organizational goals.
* Align project management capabilities with strategic objectives.
* Identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.
Who you are
* University degree in a relevant discipline, with a desirable post-graduate qualification such as an MSc, MBA, or higher degree in a relevant area.
* 10+ years of experience in areas directly relevant to project management, ideally in sectors comparable to Diagnostics or Life Sciences companies.
* Deep and broad knowledge of project management methodologies, including their application, capability building and management, and process ownership and oversight. Understanding the specific needs of the diagnostics industry and regulated product development and support.
* Demonstrates courage, vision, and drive to be at the forefront of innovative change.
* Strong experience in line leadership, preferably with a track record of creating and leading diverse, global teams and/or matrix leadership in a technology-based industry at an enterprise level.
* Ability to navigate within an organization with evolving needs, while maintaining objectivity, respect for differences of opinion, fairness, open communication, and consensus-building skills.
* Strong business and financial acumen with an enterprise mindset.
* Willingness to travel 5% to 15% of the time.
* Fluent in English (verbal and written), knowledge of German is a plus.
