3. Job Summary: Seeking an experienced Business Manager who has experience of the school environment, based in the Southwest suburbs of Melbourne, earning up to $60 per hour.

Duration: 6 weeks
Hours: Mon - Fri. 8am - 4pm
Start date: 12th August for a full handover until 20th September
Experience: Cases21 experience would be ideal or use of Compass

About the Role:
Our client is looking for a Business Manager, to be based on-site in Altona Meadows. This position is currently a full-time position, however as this is a 6 week long role covering for Service Leave absence. Our client is open to discussing part time hours and days. (Availability on a Friday would be preferred)
You will handle tasks that affect the entire school. This role involves working with other staff and community members to achieve goals in areas like administration, finance, and human resources.
While the goals and targets are set, the Business Manager has some freedom in deciding how to meet them, though they must follow standard procedures and school policies.
A major part of the job is managing staff to ensure goals are met. The Business Manager also keeps senior management updated with timely reports and advice on school finances, human resources, and administration. Experience of Cases21 or Compass would be of benefit.
Key duties : Skills & Experience:
Deliver School Services
7. Manage and perform the delivery of all school operations, administrative and financial.
8. Manage and produce the design and production of school publications and documents.
Finance
9. Manage and develop the preparation of annual budgets and regular financial statements and contribute to the financial decision making of the school.
10. Prepare funding submissions for the leadership team and School Council.
11. Manage and perform all accounting processes of the school and ensure that all funds, including school investments, are effectively accounted for according to Treasury regulations.
12. Provide advice to staff on spending against budget in respect to faculties, programs and other school projects.
13. Attend School Council meetings and answer financial questions raised by members of School Council.
14. Administer government grants and other school income.
15. Manage and deliver fundraising activities.
General Administration
16. Manage and perform all administrative functions for school operations.
17. Perform a range of administrative support functions for the Principal and teaching staff.
18. Provide administrative support to external service providers as required.
19. Manage and perform the processing of student admissions, registrations, enrolments and transfers.
20. Provide required level of administrative support for school events, functions and projects.
21. Implement induction programs for new staff, volunteers and other workers to the school.
22. Participate in professional learning activities relevant to the position.
23. Participate in weekly leadership team meetings.
Human Resources
24. Research, plan and prepare development programs for support staff.
25. Manage recruitment procedures.
26. Provide authoritative advice to the leadership team on support structures and work practices.
Manage School Resources
27. Assist to manage the use and maintenance of school buildings and equipment.
28. Liaise and negotiate with service providers in respect to the cost and quality of services.
29. Supervise the delivery of contracted services.
Support School Council
30. Draft financial Reports and monitor budget performance providing detailed explanations.
31. Draft reports and make recommendations on operational issues.
32. Evaluate and report on the operational efficiency of computer systems in production, making recommendations for improvement where appropriate.
You will also have or be willing to undergo a Working with Children Check and a Police Check.
Desired Skills & Experience:
33. Demonstrated capacity to lead an office team, including capacity for directing the work of others.
34. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in respect to human resource and financial management records systems.
35. Sound knowledge of financial management legal requirements and practices, including the capacity to produce reports and provide advice in respect to those reports.
36. High level organizational skills, including the capacity to prioritise workflows.
37. High level written and verbal communication skills.
