Laboratoire national de santé (Luxembourg public institution) is recruiting a Laboratory Technician in Microbial Sequencing (m/f) for the Microbiology department for a temporary position (CDD) of 1 year, on a full-time basis.
About the Laboratoire national de santé
The LNS is a major player in Luxembourg’s healthcare sector, serving the country’s patients, doctors and hospitals. Under the supervision of the Ministry of Health and Social Security, the LNS is a multidisciplinary public institution organized around six diagnostic departments, two of which are designated as national diagnostic centers for human genetics and pathology respectively.
The LNS employs around 400 highly qualified staff with diverse backgrounds. The main purpose of the LNS is to develop analytical activities and scientific expertise relating to the prevention, diagnosis and monitoring of human diseases; to act as a national control or reference laboratory; and to carry out forensic missions. The LNS also collaborates with the University of Luxembourg and other biomedical research institutions, both nationally and internationally, on research and teaching activities.
In particular, in the field of diagnostics, the LNS covers the following fields of application: medical biology, microbiology, forensic medicine, environmental medicine, morphological and molecular pathology, and clinical genetics, as well as sequencing for rare diseases, oncology and pathogens.
About the Microbiology Department
The Department of Microbiology plays a vital role within LNS, offering reference laboratory activities in collaboration with both public and private laboratories across the nation. As the nominated National Reference Laboratory for Acute Respiratory Infections and for HIV/HCV infections, our department is a leader in specialized activities and excels in combating antimicrobial resistance. We work hand-in-hand with the Ministry of Health and Social Security and various European and global institutions to address surveillance and epidemiological concerns and we provide diagnostic support.
We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Laboratory Technician to join our Pathogen Sequencing team. Job description
As a Laboratory Technician, you will:
* Work within the Pathogen Sequencing team, collaborating closely with Bacteriology and Virology services.
* Perform critical laboratory tasks, including DNA/RNA extractions and Next Generation Sequencing utilizing various methods (Whole Genome Sequencing, Amplicon Sequencing, etc.).
* Participate in the daily maintenance and troubleshooting of analytical instruments.
* Engage in daily quality activities encompassing document and stock management, calibration, metrology, and more.

Qualifications & Skills:
Mandatory:
* Possession of “autorisation d’exercer en tant que Laboratin au Luxembourg ” issued by the Gouvernement du Grand-Duché du Luxembourg.
Essential:
* Minimum Bachelor’s degree (BAC +3) with strong experience in molecular biology.
* Proven experience with molecular techniques, including extraction, PCR, and sequencing.
* Familiarity with additional analytical techniques is considered an asset.
* Knowledge of quality standards ISO 15189 and ISO 17025, as well as metrology.
* Fluency in French and/or English is required. Proficiency in German and/or Luxembourgish is considered an asset.
