The »High-Performance Cutting « department develops technologies and application-oriented solutions for cutting along the entire process chain - from process design and pre-process simulation to real-time data acquisition during production, consulting, and prototype manufacturing. As part of your thesis, you will investigate how forces during the milling of thin-walled workpieces with barrel tools can be reliably predicted and compensated to ensure efficient CAM planning. This will include machining trials, data acquisition and analysis.
What you will do
* Conduct machining trials to determine relevant parameters for force modeling
* Simulate machining forces using an existing modelling framework
* Create an optimized CAM plan utilizing predicted forces
What you bring to the table
* You are studying mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics or a comparable subject area
* Basic knowledge of machining, force modeling, and technical mechanics is an advantage
* Ideally initial experience with CAM planning software (e.g. Rhino 3D or NX)
* Good language skills in German and/or English
What you can expect
* Professional supervision and collaboration within a dedicated team
* Becoming an integral part of the team from the very beginning, with the opportunity to contribute your ideas
* Involvement in innovative research and development projects with renowned industrial partners
* Access to state-of-the-art machinery equipped with extensive measurement technology
