Hauptaufgaben Incumbent performs personnel management functions for a group of approximately 160 assigned Motor Vehicle Operators. Explains work requirements, methods, and procedures; instructs subordinates in new processes and tasks; and provides advice when problems arise. Reviews work in progress or completed. Investigates work related problems (e.g. low productivity) to identify causes; implements corrective actions within his/her area of authority. Verifies and signs Time and Attendance Reports, TDY Requests and Invoices/Claims. Interviews candidates for employment, and recommends selections. Evaluates job performance; nominates employees for awards. Recommends corrective/disciplinary action as needed. Identifies employees' training needs, and initiates recommendations for training. Schedules and approves leave of subordinates. Ensures availability or trained armorer. Conducts sick absence interviews, job interviews and provides recommendations in regards to qualified candidates to the Chief, Motor Operations. Conducts training IAW applicable norms, to include Berufsgenossenschaftliche Vorschriften and hereby enforces safety standards. Plans work schedules and sequence of operation for assigned Motor Vehicle Operators and internal sections. Establishes deadlines and priorities on the basis of general work schedules and IAW applicable norms and methods and policies established by higher levels of supervision. Determines number and category of personnel required considering skills, materiel and equipment available. Maintains production reports and records. Determines equipment and supplies required, and monitors vehicle maintenance status with regard to services and repairs required. Coordinates mission execution in regards to specific routes, country requirements: if required also provides convoy escort with responsibility to coordinate mission execution. Based on changing requirements, efficient use of resources and w/i the legal boundaries, he/she assigns vehicles to the mission and supporting functions. Periodically meets to discuss program changes, budget restraints, and ideas for improvement. Reviews performance indicators of processes within his/her AOR and in connection with the Motor Operations Section's function from the perspective of efficient use of resources and implements corrective actions on the immediate mission execution and process setup level. Evaluates existing procedures and methods and continuously improves internal processes by applying a variety of process improvement tools and implementing IT tools and techniques. Captures, analyzes and performs statistical evaluation of data in support of the organization's mission using and implementing benchmarking techniques and best practices in commercial companies. Incumbent must hold excellent communication and conflict resolution skills. The organization's significant need for sustainable solutions in regards to process improvements and Office Automation mandates that the incumbent develops non-standardized solutions and methods. This results in the requirement for advanced process improvement skills and techniques. Operational circumstances and MCE directives might require the position incumbent to conduct route reconnaissance throughout the geographical AOR of the US Army Europe and Africa. Develops and enforces SOPs and directives pertaining to the proper and efficient use of military owned/leased equipment. Ensures evaluation of all documentation related to vehicle dispatch, utilization, maintenance and dispatch by means of electronic data processing. Acts as the unit's transportation coordinator. Ensures risk assessments are conducted IAW legal provisions. Conducts weapons & firing familiarization and is responsible for a variety of Physical Security functions, to include the management of the Arms Room, access control to the 6966th TTT motor pool area. Ensures vehicle BII, snow chains, ADR kits and BB&Ts are in place and meet the standards. Maintains key control for the arms room and the assigned equipment. Ensure the organization's wash rack is fully operational. Inspects damages to vehicles; conducts investigative, liability and claims reports. Ensures assigned equipment is fully operational; this includes all assets and auxiliary systems. Maintains mileage records and ensures the section's file system meets applicable standards. Performs other duties as assigned.
