The position is located in the group led by Professor Zuccaro at the Institute for Plant Sciences. The successful candidate will work as Data Manager (f/m/x) for the research initiative “Immunometabolism in Health and Disease“ (iHEAD) which is a collaboration between scientists of different Faculties at the University of Cologne. The initiative is a highly interdisciplinary undertaking in which molecular, cellular and biochemical data from plant and animal systems will be produced to advance the understanding of cellular metabolic programmes underpinning immune responses. This is expected to lead to the first integrated map of immunometabolism in plants and animals, including rational targets for therapeutic intervention. YOUR TASKS
Data management at the interface between iHEAD, other initiatives at the University of Cologne and repository programmes
Assistance with the development of shared data analysis pipelines and workflows
Establishment and maintenance of a central database / repository of sequencing and other “-omics“ data
Development of metadata standards for synthetic community experiments
Facilitation of reproducibility and replicability of computational analyses
YOUR PROFILE
Degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Statistics or related field
Proficiency in the use of Linux/Unix
Competence in programming, e.g. Matlab, R, Python, in relational databases, e.g. SQL and in web programming, e.g. HTML, JavaScript, PHP, CSS
Experience in the analysis of next-generation sequencing data
Good communication skills in English
The ability to work in an environment at the interface of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Medicine and Computer Sciences

The position is available immediately on a part-time basis (19,92 hours per week). The position is to be filled for a fixed term until 31.10.2026. If the applicant meets the relevant wage requirements and personal qualifications, the salary will be based on remuneration group 11 TV-L of the pay scale for the German public sector.
