The Tübingen AI Center is a hub for European AI, hosted by the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen in cooperation with the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems. It focuses on AI research, education, and support for AI start-ups. The center comprises machine learning research groups with PhD students and Postdocs. It collaborates with various institutions like the University of Tübingen, Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems, and Cyber Valley. It is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the Ministry of Science, Research and Arts Baden-Württemberg.
Position Overview
Head of HPC/AI Cluster (m/f/d, E14 TV-L, 100%, permanent)
A European AI research hub focusing on machine learning, computer vision, and robotics, in cooperation with the University of Tübingen and the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems.
Minimum Requirements
1. Master’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related fields.
2. Several years of relevant professional experience.
3. Strong proficiency in both written and spoken German (C2) and English.
Experience Requirements
1. Experience in Management and operation of compute facilities.
2. Expertise in high-performance computing and cloud infrastructure.
3. Proven leadership in technical teams and ability to build strong relationships.
4. Expertise in Linux administration, networking, storage clusters, ML infrastructure, and GPU computing.
5. Hands-on experience with machine learning.
Responsibilities
1. Lead, hire, and develop a high-performing HPC/AI cluster team.
2. Oversee and advance our AI-focused HPC and cloud infrastructure.
3. Ensure reliability, scalability, and high availability of computing resources.
4. Collaborate with internal teams, university IT services, and external suppliers.
5. Design tenders for cutting-edge AI hardware expansions.
