About the area
You will be member of the global Government & Public Affairs team of Deutsche Bank with offices in Frankfurt, Berlin, Brussels, London, Washington D.C. and New York. The team is responsible for early identification and creation of awareness of political agendas and regulatory developments with impact on Deutsche Bank's business strategy. Government & Public Affairs coordinates the development and delivery of bank-wide advocacy positions as the basis for the bank's adequate representation in legislative processes. The division determines the bank's advocacy strategy, manages Deutsche Bank's relationships with policymakers and regulators, and serves as a source of political, geopolitical, and regulatory insights for the bank's senior management across divisions.
Your tasks
As Policy Expert Germany you will be based in Berlin and report into the Germany Head of Government & Public Affairs while working in close cooperation with the global Government & Public Affairs team and relevant divisions across the bank.
* You work with the Berlin Government & Public Affairs team on establishing Deutsche Bank within Germany as trusted partner for strategic insights and solutions and provide a voice for the financial services sector across a number of different stakeholders and industry groups, supporting the development and implementation of advocacy strategies and their execution.
* You support advocacy work on regulatory developments relevant for the Bank's business model across the entire value chain of the Bank as well as associated topics such as competitiveness, economic policy and other cross-policy sectors.
* Support internal experts in developing consultation responses, policy papers and presentations for internal and external use related to policy initiatives.
* You provide regular and ad-hoc briefings for Deutsche Bank's senior management on strategically important policy topics to ensure awareness and focused engagement with external stakeholders.
* You conduct effective engagement with internal and external stakeholders; prepare and follow-up to relevant meetings and participate in industry events, conferences and hearings.
* You support the team in bringing alive Deutsche Bank's thought leadership through events.
* You build and maintain a strong internal and external network with experts, industry associations and policy makers.
Your skills and experience
* Educational qualification: college / university degree in financial services, political science, economics, or law.
* At least 4 years of relevant experience in the financial sector, in government affairs/public policy or relevant institutions.
* Deep knowledge of political and regulatory processes in Germany (on federal and state level) and advanced knowledge of EU processes. Experience with international stakeholders and/or policy systems is a plus.
* Strong interest in global financial services and innovation, combined with an affinity for regulation, policy and advocacy. Understanding the interconnections between the financial sector, Germany's economy and global political and economic developments is part of your profile.
* Ability to work and deliver under time pressure, ambition to create products of high quality, strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent team player and proactive thinker.
* Experience in organizing events.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills; fluent in German and English.
